Disqualified at Low Tide

[Blurb]

When Shi Jinzhu was ten, her mother took her away from a home that was nothing short of a nightmare. For the next fifteen years, she refused to return to Ningcheng.

That changed when she came to Ningcheng with a film crew to shoot on location. After much hesitation, she retraced her steps to the old address, made inquiries, and finally came face to face with him.

In a somewhat cluttered auto repair shop, he sat beside a car with its hood raised and recognized her at a glance.

The sweet, docile child he'd known was gone. He watched her like a vicious dog and told her to get lost:

“What right do you have to show your face in front of me?”

Lu Yi hated Shi Jinzhu with all his heart.

She'd joined his family, stolen his mother, then abandoned him and left without a backward glance.

He'd hated her for fifteen years. Just as he was about to stop, she came back.

In that case

He wasn't going to give her another chance to run away.

On a damp, muddy night, Shi Jinzhu was kicked off the film set with nothing to her name.

Somehow, Lu Yi was standing across the road.

He seemed ready to mock her, but fell strangely silent. Scowling, he dragged her away.

Later, she went back with him to his rented apartment, only to be abruptly pinned against the doorway as he bit down hard on her lips.

Panicking, she slapped him and shoved him away. “What are you trying to do?”

Lu Yi suddenly laughed.

He said he wanted to drag her down with him.

“Do I need to remind you? We're not related by blood.”

“Big sister.”

Dragged down where?

Of course, into the mud.
