Harry Potter: The Diricawl’s Feather

She is the last Silent Bird in the world. No one else in the world will ever love him as she does. Her love is buried deep beneath the earth along with her death. She never heard anyone express love, so until the moment she was gone, she never once said, "I love you."

He is the product of a love potion and has never understood love. The feelings, sometimes real and sometimes false, hazy and illusory, disgust him. He doesn't understand, so he instinctively runs away, disguising the brazen proof he glimpses out of the corner of his eye as a trap. He even deceives himself, grandly telling everyone that it means nothing.

She doesn't dare. She's a coward.

He isn't worthy. He has no virtue to deserve that place.

She is unable to let go of their first meeting, even forcing the radiance of redemption onto him. Is that love?

As he falls apart and fades away, her smiling face suddenly comes to mind. He pauses, dazed. Could this be love?

I don't know.

But this is their story.

A coward's confession.

The feathers of a Silent Bird can be used to make memory potions and Veritaserum. A Silent Bird never makes a sound in its entire life. Only at the very moment of its death does it let out a long, piercing cry, repeating every sound it has ever heard, starting with the most recent.
