Hagiwara from the Afterlife Office

Born as a natural spirit in the Afterlife Services, Sanyutei Ruri spent two hundred years as a model employee, diligently registering newly deceased souls.

Then, two hundred years later, he got pestered by a guy who acted like they'd known each other forever.

"Ruri, have you ever met your boss?"

"Ruri, how come there's no food at the Afterlife Services?"

"Stop working and pay attention to me, Ruri."

Sanyutei Ruri: How can this guy talk so much? And why hasn't his memory faded yet?

After being blown to pieces by a bomb in a building, Hagiwara Kenji opened his eyes to find himself in a strange place called the Afterlife Services. Anyone who hadn't taken a life ended up here after death.

At the Afterlife Services, he met an "interesting" natural spirit who cared about nothing but work.

"The dead and spirits don't need to eat, so there's no food at the Afterlife Services."

"Changing the fate of the living is against the rules. You should give up."

"You can reunite with your childhood friend here at the Afterlife Services. Aren't you happy?"

But in the end, this model employee who strictly followed the rules led him in defecting from the Afterlife Services, saving his childhood friend, and searching the world for a way to keep his memories from fading.

Hagi: Don't worry, Ruri. I'll remember you forever, for the rest of my life.
