I Was Reborn as Both a Medicinal Catalyst and a Substitute

Ji Mingke was the crown prince of the realm and the object of everyone's affection. However, he was gravely ill and near death.

Dongqing, who bore a five- or six-tenths resemblance to Ji Mingke, was sent to the palace to serve as the medicine that would save him.

But Dongqing still couldn't save Ji Mingke. He died on a snowy night, with only Dongqing by his side. Holding Dongqing's hand, Ji Mingke said with utmost tenderness, "Live well."

Unexpectedly, after Ji Mingke died, everyone treated Dongqing as his replacement, tormenting him both physically and emotionally. In the end, Dongqing died on a snowy night just like Ji Mingke.

What no one knew was that Ji Mingke had secretly drunk far fewer bowls of medicine in order to protect Dongqing.

Ji Mingke became a ghost and watched Dongqing suffer, powerless to help.

Fortunately, Ji Mingke was reborn before Dongqing entered the palace. He immediately rejected the Imperial Preceptor's suggestion to send Dongqing there.

Dongqing felt deeply guilty for failing to save Ji Mingke and despised those beasts in fine clothes. He died unable to rest in peace.

Fortunately, Dongqing was reborn too. This time, he resolved to save Ji Mingke and help him live to a hundred. As for those beasts in fine clothes who acted respectful toward Ji Mingke but were rotten to the core, they would never get near him again.

Dongqing: An evergreen tree that can be used in medicine. Its flowers symbolize life.
