Ambitious Mother Earth [Greek Mythology]

Chaos is the essence of the world, and darkness is chaos made manifest. From the deepest darkness, a dazzling light burst forth. Amid contradiction and conflict, Chaos and Gaia were born. Gaia came from Chaos, then divided the dominion between them. They grew distant, each going their own way. Gaia, who shaped the earth between water and soil, accidentally absorbed a soul from afar. In the endless passage of time, a trace of something strange mingled with her detachment. The future she foresaw was dull and tasteless, and the memories of a happy modern life took precedence. What is the first thing to do when you discover you have transmigrated into Gaia? Obviously, seize the advantage of acting early. Break down Uranus, who would one day dare to abuse his family but was currently just a ball of fluff, and claim the throne of king of the gods with overwhelming power. Gaia isn't greedy. Taking just one fifth of Uranus's power isn't unreasonable, right? His sexual organs were going to be cut off anyway. It made no difference whether Gaia did it now or his youngest son did it later. If she'd never had them, she wouldn't miss them. And apparently, removing that part might even help with his naturally violent temper. Uranus would still be born from Gaia's fingertips as a weakened god of the sky. He would receive Gaia's superior stick-based education and sacrifice himself for the sake of the future pantheon. The divine power gained from the division would each serve a purpose: The twelve Titans, three Cyclopes, and three Hecatoncheires would all be born, still descendants of earth and sky, and the result of their divine powers combining. The soil of the earth and the power of the sky would form the suspended peaks of Mount Olympus. And women who could fly from birth. The earth would grant them hidden wings, allowing them to break free of their predetermined fate and future, and to end the curse passed down through generations. Note: Many gods' genders change in this story because Gaia has changed. In Greek mythology, changing from man to woman or even into an animal is no big deal, so let's not get hung up on gender. Gaia is a god, with none of the virtues expected of human women. She's been with countless gods, (influenced by human memories) but only one at a time. The only one she has an emotional entanglement with is Chaos. Strictly speaking, she and Chaos aren't really lovers, either. Chaos is a genderless god who once gave birth to Erebus and Nyx alone. (Could that count as nonhuman? Or, well, non-god? Anyway, given how wildly the Greeks gods behaved, this isn't anything unusual.) Ongoing novel: The Princess's Life, Bought with Eighty Years of Lifespan I died, but not all the way. According to the Book of Life and Death in the underworld, I still had eighty years of life left. I was an innocent person who died prematurely because of a screwup by a temporary underworld worker. The underworld said it would compensate me fairly, and planned to pull some strings to send me to an ancient feudal society, where I could experience life as a princess of the imperial family. Once the problem was fixed, they'd send me home. The ghost messenger said, "Since you're already here, and there's nothing to do in the underworld, why not give it a try?" I firmly refused. As an ordinary person, I just wanted to go straight back to modern life with the internet, and I absolutely wouldn't accept any excuses to delay things. So the King of Hell summoned me in person. She said, "You should have lived to ninety-nine, but a newly arrived ghost immortal was too stupid to do the job right and disrupted the timeline, costing you eighty years of life for no reason. The immortal has been sentenced to reincarnation, and you'll be compensated with boundless wealth in your next life. Are you willing?" I wouldn't be swayed. "That still won't do..." The ghost messenger whispered, "That temp worker will also be sent there, for you to do as you please..." Since I had nothing better to do, I was tempted. "Well, maybe that could work." And so, unlucky me was reborn as the youngest daughter of the Emperor of the Great Zhou dynasty. Deep in the imperial palace, I was like the chaya melon thief raised by Run Tu in the melon field: I only had to watch the drama and never got stabbed. [The main story is not in first person. The setting is modeled on the Tang dynasty.] Theme: Oppose domestic violence and build a harmonious society.
