Her friend said the new CEO was exactly Sheng Lai's type.
Sheng Lai glanced at him. The man wore a simple, understated white shirt and black pants, bright as the clear moon. His fingers were as long and warm as they had been back in their student days, but his memory wasn't as good as before.
He didn't even recognize her anymore.
When they ran into each other at a class reunion, Sheng Lai thought he would at least remember who she was. Instead, he only asked where she was going, then drove her home in silence.
Her friend asked in surprise, "Does he like you?"
Sheng Lai scoffed. "Just because he handed me his business card?"
Then, on a business trip, Lu Yunhe came to see her off. He kissed her from the elevator all the way into her room.
Sheng Lai suspected he was drunk.
His eyes red at the corners, he gazed at her for a long moment, then took her hand and touched it to his own eyes. His voice trembled softly. "I want..."
His restraint was absolute, but his meaning was clear.
With alcohol clouding her judgment, Sheng Lai spent a reckless night with him.
Their improper relationship continued, with the man's tacit acceptance, until they moved in together.
Sheng Lai had always thought fate had brought her and Lu Yunhe together that night.
Afterward, however, she found a business card she'd left behind in the bedroom.
A man as cool and understated in every way as Lu Yunhe had actually written a private phone number in the lower-right corner.
Sheng Lai stopped in her tracks, remembering the rumors she'd heard in the industry.
A certain award-winning agent changed male companions often, and especially liked it when they made the first move.
He'd hand over a business card with his number on it.
If she accepted it, things were on.
If she threw it away, it meant she'd lost interest.
She had never taken those rumors to heart, so at the class reunion she'd accepted at least ten business cards, just as usual.
After opening the car door, the man stood there for a long moment, then lowered his eyes and asked softly, "Should I take you home?"
She hummed in reply. In the end, she called a friend to pick her up and casually thanked him, completely missing his tightly pressed lips and clenched fingers.
Through the shifting light and darkness of the car window, he watched her get out. He closed his eyes hard, his words drowned out by the traffic: "...Next time, I will."
Sheng Lai remembered that look.
"Be a little more proactive."
Lu Yunhe gently kissed her palm.
...No. Find someone else.
[One-line summary]: The aloof beauty learns to become a captivating flirt for love
She has some tricks, but not many.
"Moonbreaker":
I never meant to seek the moon, yet the moon invited me to be broken.
Broken: to snap, hurt, or destroy.
Here, the word "me" before the verb refers specifically to one party.
Adapted from The Story of the Pipa: "I set my heart on the moon, yet the moon shines down into the ditch."
The blurb's suggestion that the heroine has many male companions and changes them often is a misunderstanding. There is no flirtation between the heroine and any other men, and the hero does nothing genuinely immoral.
Not a reunion after a breakup. Happy ending.
The blurb has been screenshotted. 9.9.
