When Fu Xilou was fifteen, his elders arranged a childhood betrothal for him. The girl was an eight-year-old little brat.
The little girl didn't know any better. She was clingy and always crying.
Fu Xilou couldn't accept that the person he'd spend his life with would be such a spoiled crybaby.
After graduating from high school, he went abroad to study. His little fiancée came to see him off at the airport, clutching the purple teddy bear he'd given her. She cried so hard that her chubby little face looked like a steamed bun.
Fu Xilou was exasperated. He hurried onto the plane without even bothering to say goodbye.
Later, his family called to tell him the engagement was off. They said he should find someone suitable and enjoy a proper relationship while he was abroad.
Fu Xilou had no objections. He simply felt relieved to be rid of that crybaby "burden" at last.
Six years later, after returning to China, Fu Xilou learned that the engagement had been canceled because his little fiancée's father had gone bankrupt.
His elders were all afraid he'd be angry. But he was calmer than anyone, and coldly said only:
"We were never right for each other."
Fu Xilou saw his little fiancée again a year after returning to China. He was parked outside the procuratorate.
Through the car window, he spotted her not far away. After all those years, the little dumpling he'd known had grown into a graceful young woman. Her serene appearance could certainly fool people.
But he knew her better than anyone. She was spoiled, bossy, a crybaby, and loved to get her way.
Sitting in his car, he watched her get thoroughly chewed out by her supervisor. He thought to himself that the crybaby was sure to burst into tears any second.
But he sat there for a full ten minutes. Her supervisor went from yelling at her to throwing a stack of documents in her face, yet his little fiancée remained silent throughout, eyes lowered, her still-youthful face utterly calm.
For some reason, Fu Xilou felt a strange discomfort in his heart.
He watched her crouch down to pick up the documents. Suddenly, he reached for the door and got out.
#What's going on? My long-lost former fiancé suddenly showed up and made my boss cry! Anyone there? I need answers, urgently!!#
