Set in the same universe, with no romance: upcoming novel The Boss's Job Is Hard. Blurb at the very bottom.
Blurb:
Have you ever heard the saying, "Growing up takes a very, very long time"?
And a lot, a lot of companionship!
We have plenty of time, but we don't have any time left!
I hope... it would slow down...
There's no time left!
Opening this long-unread book, Nakahara Chuuya revisited the years gone by, word by word.
A Shu and his older brother often took him out to play.
But he never got to decide when he played.
Was growing up really so wonderful?
Why did it always come with loss?
He's almost grown up
That was the last sentence on the page. He turned to the next one...
Chuuya, Chuuya, it's time to write it yourself.
He didn't want to write!
He kept turning the pages until he turned the book upside down. Only then did he discover that someone had written on the very last page:
In the cradle of the world, Chuuya, Chuuya, may you be happy and grow up safe and sound.
In a nutshell, it's a story about Chuuya growing up surrounded by love from his brother, family, and friends.
Author's Note:
1. Chuuya doesn't need to worry about whether he's human!
2. The Chuuya in this story is Arahabaki itself.
3. Kitty Chuuya is super cute!
4. Updates daily with 2,000 words. Saturdays off.
5. Almost finished!
The Boss's Job Is Hard
Nakahara Chuuya is the top executive of a certain mysterious organization. It's a big organization, nearly large enough to take over the whole country, and his status is basically The Outcast, second only to one person and above everyone else.
Lately, he hasn't been sleeping well and keeps dreaming about the moon breaking apart. It's putting him in a bad mood.
Even worse, he's just been transferred to a remote area to run things there. What was the boss thinking? Without him, could the boss's frail body even survive?
He really couldn't!
A few days later, Nakahara Chuuya got word that the boss had died unexpectedly and that he should come back to take over. Of course, he didn't believe it.
He rushed back, lifted the coffin lid, and found that although the corpse was in a terrible state, it clearly wasn't the former boss.
He was pushed into the position of boss, but was the former boss really dead? Everyone had seen him die.
A man claiming to be his older brother suddenly appeared in the boss's office, carrying the former boss's corpse.
He really was dead.
Then a Russian who claimed to have been the former boss's pen pal came to pay his respects. Had they really exchanged letters?
Who knew? But as the two tried to stuff the former boss's corpse back into its coffin, they met at the entrance to the secret room.
"What a coincidence, Boss Nakahara. I've come to see my friend one last time. And you?"
"...Same."
"After you, Boss."
"No, Mr. Dostoevsky, you first. May I call you that?"
"Of course. I don't mind."
"Then, please, go ahead!"
Phew, the troublesome fellow had been taken care of, but the dreams kept coming. Could he really be dreaming?
That wasn't a dream!
"You are our boss, sir. Please don't abandon us."
"Boss!"
Wait a minute, why had he become the boss of two organizations?
Ugh, being the boss is hard!
