Can There Be a Wish-Granting Machine in a Sports Anime?

This story is expected to wrap up and become a paid novel on May 8.

A little preview of the next story /(//·/ω/·//)/

Saotome Tsumugi has a childhood friend.

They quarreled in elementary school and reunited in high school.

Unfortunately, before they could make up, she transferred schools again.

Years later, the next time they saw each other's faces was on a TV show.

The moment they saw each other on screen, the slow-witted Saotome Tsumugi and her childhood friend both suddenly realized:

This person was my first love.

I liked him/her back in elementary school.

I still liked him/her in high school.

...Wait a second.

I think I still like him/her now.

After all these years, the slow-witted pair finally realized they were in love.

But it was already too late.

The production crew: "Huh? You already have a girlfriend/boyfriend? I guess that makes sense. Someone so popular/beautiful couldn't possibly be single."

Saotome Tsumugi and Kazuya Miyuki: ...

*

Saotome Tsumugi returns to Japan to do field research related to pro baseball.

Before she can even start work, she learns three things from the TV:

Miyuki is the starting catcher for the team she's going to.

Miyuki is already in a relationship.

And, unfortunately for her, she seems to like Miyuki.

Saotome Tsumugi: ...

Ugh, this is rough.

1. This story was inspired by a reader's comment. The CP is still Miyuki. Credit to @Jijiu, my dear friend!

2. The author is less gentle with adults than with high schoolers.

3. But it still has a happy ending.

-------------Story Blurb-------------

Your name is Saotome Tsumugi. Ever since you were little, you knew you had a superpower called the Universal Wish Machine, but it always played dead and never granted any of your wishes.

It didn't matter. You firmly believed your power existed.

One day, the Wish Machine finally answered your prayers. As long as you prayed sincerely, you could get anything you wanted.

Wow, wasn't that amazing?

You thought so as you made little wishes from time to time. But for some reason, you never wished for something big like "a ton of gold" or "to become Masami Nagasawa."

Maybe it was because you didn't want those things.

Later, you reunited with your childhood friend in high school.

They were both the type of athletic boys who practiced and competed with everything they had. You realized that the Wish Machine, which gave you rewards without any effort, didn't fit in with the sweat and hard work they put in.

You began to wonder: Did the Wish Machine have any place in their world?

The Wish Machine's response: ???

Maybe your doubts made the Wish Machine go berserk.

The white-haired young man who reached out to help you placed both hands on your shoulders and solemnly told you that people with supernatural abilities and ordinary people had never belonged to the same world.

You have to make a choice.

So, what will you choose?

1. The heroine's name is Tsumugi, written with the character for "spun thread." It means carefully weaving bonds, like threads being woven into silk fabric.

2. A coming-of-age story about a girl. An extremely happy ending.

3. There are a few bugs that won't affect your reading experience. I'll fix them when I have time...
