Mu Bai is a little ghost who sits on people’s chests while they sleep.

The kind who gets to eat once he pins someone down.

Recently, he’s been assigned to haunt a comic artist who just graduated from college.

And Mu Bai hasn’t gotten a single bite to eat in three months.

He can’t understand how anyone can stay awake longer than a ghost.

Mu Bai has no choice but to pick a new target.

His new artist’s uncle.

He hears the new target is the CEO of a major company, calm and steady, extremely disciplined, and always up early and in bed early.

Mu Bai is delighted. Every night, he sneaks off to sit on the CEO’s chest.

Every night, the CEO sees a little ghost come to sit on his chest.

He’s tiny, lying on top of him and muttering, “I’ll only pin you down for a bit. Just a little bit.”

Once, the CEO rolled over and saw the little ghost on top of him tumble right off. The ghost got up looking completely bewildered.

He thinks this little ghost doesn’t seem all that powerful.

So the CEO gets a bigger bed.

But later, the little ghost comes to pin him down less and less often, until he stops coming altogether.

No matter how early the CEO goes to bed, whether he sleeps for a whole day or stays up all night, even if he bathes and burns incense, the little ghost never comes back.

Eventually, the CEO pays a hefty fee to hire a Taoist priest.

After catching the little ghost, the CEO’s first question is: “Who have you been pinning down?”

His second is: “So the grass really is greener on the other side?”
