Jian Shi pulled her school uniform over her head. She didn't dare sneak a look too openly, so she asked her friend, "Where is he? What is he doing?"

"Talking to the homeroom teacher. Probably about the race just now. Bai Fan came in first." Her friend served as a pair of binoculars. "He's heading toward the student council building. He's wearing a vest as a referee."

Jian Shi lowered her uniform. Her friend's voice sounded again. "He's coming over. He just looked this way."

Jian Shi looked up and saw lots of girls beside Bai Fan. Annoyed, she lowered her head again. "Stop talking. I don't want to hear it."

She shifted to the right and went back to her book. Sunlight fell across the page. "Niannian, move the parasol a little to the left."

"A little higher."

At last, the position was just right, but then she heard a faint laugh, perhaps Bai Fan's voice.

So Jian Shi asked, "Where is he? What is he doing?"

There was a moment of silence. Bai Fan's voice came from behind her, a husky laugh rolling from his throat. "He's behind you. He's looking at you."

Sunlight spilled everywhere, slanting across his brow. His eyes held a knowing smile.

Seventeen-year-old Shao Kou had liked Liang Long for years. After graduation, she married him without hesitation.

Until one day, Liang Long happened to see the stacks of unsent letters in Shao Kou's drawer, each addressed to him.

"On the day of the model aircraft competition, he walked alone through the empty campus. I wished there had been a magnificent, brilliant sunset then, with warmth swelling in the afterglow and a gentle breeze, instead of me, a stranger to him."

"Many times in my dreams, I felt the summer wind of my seventeenth year on that rooftop. When I turned around, I saw everything, except him."

The next morning, Shao Kou received a handwritten letter from Liang Long:

My future Mrs. Liang, I'm Liang Long, twenty-seven years old. It's an honor to know you. Ten years from now, the seasons will always be new, and we will be in love.
