The truly "ordinary" high school student Shimizu Kajin discovers that he is trapped in a loop.
His third year of high school keeps repeating. After taking the college entrance exam more than twenty times, he's completely numb...
Then one day, a "draw-a-card" System appears in his mind. That's when he learns that he lives in a manga world. The only way to end the loop is to draw special skills and defeat the manga's final villain.
After eighteen years of living as a nobody, Shimizu Kajin is ecstatic: So I really am special! Is my story as the protagonist finally beginning? Hahaha!!!
Shimizu Kajin raises his hand: In that case, let's do this. Draw the first card!
System: Congratulations! You have received a skill card: "Background Face."
Shimizu Kajin: ...? Is the System bugged? One more!
System: Congratulations! You have received a skill card: "Background Silhouette."
Shimizu Kajin: ...Ugh! So I'm just a background character!
It turns out this world is the one from the mystery manga Detective Conan, and the protagonist is his junior, the famous high school detective. He himself is a background character without even a name...
Shimizu Kajin is furious: So what if I'm a background character? I can still defeat the big boss and escape the loop!
And so, he unlocks all kinds of bizarre card-drawing skills.
"Background Face" skill description: The manga's background characters all have similar faces because the author wants to save time. They're commonly known as background faces.
Shimizu Kajin gives a sly smile: Heh. What better disguise could there be? I don't even need to use a disguise!
So Shimizu Kajin whips out the "Background Face" skill card and moves freely through any setting, because no one pays attention to a background character.
Infiltration plan successful, mission progress: 10%
"Background Silhouette" skill: Background characters' silhouettes often resemble people the protagonists know. As long as no one stops a background character to see their face, they can pass for the real thing.
Using this skill, he can quickly get things done and pin the blame on someone else...
Sowing discord among the organization members, mission progress: 20%
Theme: Everyone is the protagonist of their own story
