I.
Somewhere along the way, the Heartless Dao became a joke.
Countless geniuses who cultivated the Heartless Dao became trapped by romantic love and could not ascend.
Some even killed their wives, husbands, family, or friends to prove their Dao, or fell into demonic ways and destroyed the world.
And so the Heartless Dao became a forbidden path, reviled by all.
II.
No one would ever have guessed that the senior disciple cultivated the Heartless Dao.
Though she seemed pure, aloof, and detached, beneath her cold exterior lay an undeniable warmth and compassion. She cared deeply for her junior disciples, was utterly loyal to her fellow cultivators, respected her masters and the Dao, and even looked after the spirit beasts in the menagerie.
But she truly did cultivate the Heartless Dao.
She slaughtered the Corpse Sect and the Medicine Sect, then broke open the Demon-Suppressing Abyss, unleashing demons to plague the world.
The world's Daoist sects sent out their elite forces. Only by combining their strength could they seal her away.
III.
The Demon King picked up a young woman who cultivated the Heartless Dao, then did everything he could to make her his Demon Queen.
One day, news arrived from beyond their world: a genius from a neighboring realm, who cultivated the Heartless Dao, had killed his wife to prove his Dao during a tribulation and ascended.
After hearing this, the Demon King curled his long tail around his queen. "Will you one day kill me to prove your Dao, too?"
The young woman held by his tail had skin as white as ice and bones like jade, with white hair falling around her. She always looked distant and cold. "No. That is a lesser path. One day it will either entangle your heart with demons or bring the backlash of the heavenly laws and karma."
Yet years later, with a snow-white life-sword pierced through his chest, the dying Demon King asked unwillingly, "Didn't you say you wouldn't kill me?"
"I only said I wouldn't kill you to prove my Dao."
The Demon King's soul scattered. Many years later, the Demon Queen attained the Great Dao, completed her cultivation, and ascended.
IV.
"What Dao do you cultivate?"
"The Heartless Dao."
"What do you seek?"
"I cannot tell you."
* The blurb may be revised, but the core will remain unchanged.
* A cultivation-growth story with the heroine surrounded by countless unrequited admirers.
* I want to write the Heartless Dao as I envision it.
Theme: Love all beings, and be indifferent to all beings.
