The Bewitching Gu

[The ancient setting featuring Cousin Shen and Cousin Qiao, probably a fantasy story]

[Enlightened monk vs. Miaojiang girl]

[The title may change. This blurb is provisional.]

After Qiao Qiao stumbled upon the secret behind her clan's sacrificial rites, her people chased her from southern Xinjiang all the way to the Central Plains.

With nowhere left to run, she hid alone in a dilapidated temple.

There, she met Fan Yi, dressed in a dark blue monk's robe. He sat cross-legged on a mat, reciting sutras. His cool, otherworldly features seemed completely out of place amid the temple's filth and disarray.

Her pursuers were hot on her heels outside.

Qiao Qiao grabbed Fan Yi's robe and looked up at him pleadingly.

"Master, please save me."

Several years later.

On her master's orders, Qiao Qiao went to Luoxing Town to capture a demon.

After three days in town, she hadn't seen a single demon, but she did see Fan Yi, dressed in red.

By then, Fan Yi had cast off his kasaya and returned to lay life, taking back his secular name, Shen Hexing.

He gazed at Qiao Qiao with a warm smile, speaking in a very familiar tone.

"Miss Qiao, it's been a long time."

Content warnings:

1. This is not a cultivation novel, but rather a supernatural fantasy with a Strange Tales of Liaozhai feel.

2. The male lead really does turn dark. If you dislike aloof beauties turning evil, proceed with caution!

3. This is the ancient-set version of Cousin Shen and Cousin Qiao from the author's other novel, Taking Refuge.
