Yu Qing has a secret he's too embarrassed to talk about.
A few days ago, someone took liberties with him in a dark, narrow alley.
For the past few days, he's been racking his brains to figure out how to catch that lecher. Before he could find the man, though, his "thoughtful" colleagues at the Imperial Medical Academy pushed him forward as a scapegoat.
He was sent to take the Second Prince's pulse.
Everyone at court knows Xiao Yin, the Second Prince of Shangyu, is a sickly man.
He gets a minor illness every other day and a serious one every three days. They say that if he gets too hot-tempered, he can cough up a whole basin of blood.
Worst of all, after each visit from an imperial physician, his condition gets worse instead of better. Any physician who's treated him either loses their position and gets beaten, or has the bad luck to go straight to the grave.
The imperial physicians are all terrified whenever they hear the word "Yin."
Now this miserable assignment had landed on Yu Qing. He couldn't have had worse luck if he'd been cursed for eight lifetimes.
He arrived at the Prince of Jiu's residence and finally met the sickly prince from all the rumors. Yu Qing's eyelid twitched. Why did this man look so familiar?
Because he was the lecher who'd harassed him in the narrow alley!
Xiao Yin reached out and lifted the bed curtain a little higher. The corner of his mouth turned up, his gaze amused and meaningful. "Well, look who's here."
Bonus scene:
The moment Xiao Yin saw Yu Qing, he started coughing. He coughed so hard he could barely catch his breath, looking like he was on death's door.
Because Xiao Yin was a prince, Yu Qing had no choice but to patiently take his pulse. "Your Highness, there's nothing wrong with you."
Xiao Yin grabbed Yu Qing's wrist and pressed it against his chest, rubbing it there. "But whenever I see Imperial Physician Yu, my heart races and I feel hot all over. What's the matter with me?"
Yu Qing's expression instantly turned cold. "Your Highness, I can't treat this illness."
P.S. The Second Prince is only pretending to be sick. He's strong and healthy, with all the vigor a man could ask for.
A story about a shameless Second Prince who pursues his beloved until he finally gets his way.
