Jiang Miaomiao was a little princess from a fairy tale. Because a prophecy said she wouldn't live to adulthood, she grew up with a witch in a castle in the forest, occasionally studying magic.
A raven became her messenger, while a lion, a tiger, and a wolf king became her pets.
But Jiang Miaomiao had little talent. After sixteen years of study, she had only learned a bit of divination and some minor magic.
When the prophecy came true, she opened her eyes to find she'd transmigrated into a story about a real heiress and a fake heiress.
Though she knew who she was and where she came from, Jiang Miaomiao didn't make any effort to find her family. Instead, finally free of the forest castle and able to see a different way of life, she let her heart run wild.
She spent nearly seventeen years living freely in the mountains and villages before her birth parents finally tracked her down.

A dramatic real-heiress-versus-fake-heiress story was unfolding right under everyone's noses. They all waited for the spectacle, eager to watch the two heiresses fight, and to see the real heiress, fresh from the countryside, embarrass herself and bring some excitement to their dull, uneventful lives among the wealthy. Especially since the fake heiress was engaged to the young master of the Shen family. This was going to be quite a show.
But the scene they expected never came. The real heiress they'd found was either teasing cats and dogs or playing with birds (?), and spent her days shopping. Her carefree lifestyle made everyone jealous and envious.

In the story, the fake heiress, Jiang Liruo, was the heroine. She was elegant, intelligent, and capable, and eventually led the Jiang family to greater heights. Jiang Miaomiao, on the other hand, was the brash, tantrum-throwing supporting character, a stumbling block in the leads' path. If the heroine hadn't felt guilty toward the real heiress and protected her, Jiang Miaomiao would have been written out long ago.
Maybe the real and fake heiresses really did have plenty of conflicts and embarrassing mishaps in the original story. Jiang Miaomiao had already made up her mind: she wouldn't get involved in the leads' affairs. She just wanted to be a happy, useless rich girl.
But in reality, the fake heiress didn't dislike her at all. She was even devoted to the miracle that was Miaomiao.
Jiang Liruo: "Miaomiao, this princess dress is so pretty. You'd look wonderful in it."
Jiang Miaomiao: "No, I just ate three big bowls of rice. I won't fit into it."
Jiang Liruo: "How about this witch's dress? This crystal ball goes perfectly with it."
Jiang Miaomiao, eyeing the amethyst: "...Okay."
"Miaomiao, can Xiao Ba say 'big sister' yet?"
Jiang Miaomiao took the card Jiang Liruo offered. "Yes!"
Not only can Xiao Ba say it, I can too. From now on, you're my one and only big sister!
