Note: Harry Potter fanfiction; pairing: Sirius Black x Severus Snape; 15,000-word, off-topic essay-style prose; a long story whose title I came up with two years ago and then shelved has finally turned into a short story that's wildly off-topic and all over the place; I hope to revise it when I have time; on this day forty years ago, the course of both their lives was changed; what if they had a chance to get to know each other again?

Theme: They both gave their lives for the same thing.
