Every story about a scum gong and a devoted shou has a good-guy NPC. A casual remark from them can rekindle the devoted shou's hope, sending him back to be ground into dust by the scum gong, only to be pieced together again into a so-called "happy ending."
The System announces excitedly, "Times have changed. Readers only want happy endings. Our mission is to make every book reach a happy ending!"
Chu Yao flips through the script. "Huh?"
"Is this a Schrodinger's happy ending?"
The System (sheepish): "...You only have one line in each world. Why make such a big deal of it?"
-
World One: A wealthy family's real young master, the shou, is mocked and humiliated by the fake young master's gong's friend, leaving him heartbroken.
At a banquet, Chu Yao sees the protagonist shou being forced to drink. His shirt is soaked through, and he looks panicked, like a cat Chu Yao has always wanted but never managed to keep.
System: "You're a friend of the fake young master's gong. You know the gong is just having a sudden emotional breakdown. Please tell the protagonist shou, 'He's afraid of getting hurt. You should show him more love.' Make the protagonist shou keep getting abused until he is broken and stops fighting back, leading to a happy ending."
Chu Yao watches for a long time, then leans closer. As the System urges him on, he delivers the line: "...You should show him more love."
But when he sees the hope fade from those beautiful eyes, he changes the end of the sentence. "To the right person."
He's his friend's wife, but... so tempting.
-
World Two: The protagonist shou, a CEO deceived in heart and mind by a gong who appeared out of nowhere, is exhausted in body and spirit, utterly broken.
The protagonist shou is dazzling at work, but only in the dead of night does he show Chu Yao his unique vulnerability.
System: "You're the uncle of the gong who appeared out of nowhere. You think the gong has his reasons. Please tell the protagonist shou, 'He may have his reasons. You should understand him.' Make the protagonist shou get deceived again, until the company goes bankrupt, his body is left disabled, and his mind falls apart, leading to a happy ending."
Chu Yao thinks for a long time and moves closer. As the System urges him on, he delivers the line: "...You should understand him."
But when he sees the exhaustion that beautiful face can no longer hide, Chu Yao finally softens his tone. "Find someone else."
He's his nephew's wife, but... so easy to feel sorry for.
-
World Three: The protagonist shou, a husband sold off by the scum gong who passed the highest imperial exam, is trapped in a desperate situation and close to death.
The protagonist shou is locked in a cage in a trafficker's den, filthy and miserable, a far cry from the person Chu Yao saw in that warm home.
System: "You're the cold-hearted gong's older brother. You don't think the gong could be that cruel. Please tell the protagonist shou, 'He was forced into it. Go to the capital and find him.' Make the protagonist shou go to the capital, where the scum gong will imprison him. Their attempt to die together will fail, and he'll be imprisoned for life, leading to a happy ending."
-
World Four: In an apocalyptic world, the protagonist shou is kicked into a zombie horde by his boyfriend.
-
World Five: ...
-
In every world with a scum gong and a devoted shou, the devoted shou has to endure countless inhuman cruelties. Luckily, there is always an NPC who can't stand to watch.
Gentle but teasing gong x devoted but resilient shou
Notes:
1. One-on-one romance (multiple fragments), both leads are sexually inexperienced. Even their first kiss has to be their first kiss ever.
2. The gong is attracted to the shou, and the shou is attracted to and seduces the gong. They love each other.
3. Quoting a friend: "The author creates two wonderful people, gives them a chance to spend time together, lets them look at each other and see the bright spots in one another. Naturally, they'll fall in love."
4. The tone of the QA and ZW sections stays consistent, repeating in a cycle.
