A little radish plant swayed its leaves in a flowerpot on the bedroom windowsill.
It was trying its best to bask in the moonlight.
When the moonlight faded and the sun rose,
the little radish immediately pulled out its roots and hopped onto the bed in a few quick leaps.
A boy lay sleeping peacefully on the big bed.
Ren Sheng, who had just dreamed of burrowing into the earth and feasting, shook his head. I'm all alone. Why do I keep dreaming about eating dirt?
He sprang up and stared at the flowerpot on the windowsill, practically drooling. Then he shook his head. No way. I'm not eating dirt. Awooo, it's Saturday! Time to go to work and earn some pocket money!
The moment thoughts of money filled his head, dirt lost all its appeal.
A gloomy alley.
Ren Sheng tiptoed along the wall, hiding behind piles of junk and trying to make himself as small and inconspicuous as possible.
His heart was pounding. Dad always said he was a bringer of good fortune.
But right now, Ren Sheng felt like he might be a walking jinx.
No one had said the apocalypse had arrived, so what were these zombies with their swaggering, couldn't-care-less-about-anyone attitude?
I was just delivering food and earning a little pocket money.
As one zombie drew near, Ren Sheng didn't dare so much as breathe. His heart was about to leap out of his chest.
Was he going to die?
A figure suddenly appeared up ahead. A hoarse, low, furious roar rang out, and the zombie immediately turned and charged toward the sound.
Ren Sheng's gaze followed it.
Swish, swish, swish. Beneath the flash of a sharp blade, every zombie's head was cut off.
Ren Sheng let out a breath of relief.
Suddenly, someone grabbed him by the collar. A pair of blood-red eyes appeared, and a low, dangerous voice sounded beside his ear.
With danger closing in, Ren Sheng's heart jumped into his throat. Without thinking, he grabbed the sachet hanging from his keychain and pressed it over the other man's mouth.
That's right. This guy gave Ren Sheng the feeling that if he lost control, he'd want to take a bite of human flesh.
One second, two seconds, three seconds...
Time seemed to stand still. Qin Shu's senses returned amid a faint, refreshing fragrance.
He let go and looked at the frightened boy before him. In a low, hoarse voice, he said, "Sorry. I was a little out of it just now. Can I have your sachet?"
Ren Sheng watched as the other man took his sachet. Was that your idea of asking? You already took it, so why are you even asking me?
Could I really say no? What if you bite me again?
At that moment, seeing how the other man had lost control, then recovered after having the sachet pressed over his mouth and nose, Ren Sheng began to believe his dad hadn't been lying. Maybe he really was a bringer of good fortune!
This sachet seems to be embroidered with my hair.
