March 19, 2025: Some readers have said lately that they want to read this one. The reason I haven’t started it is, actually... I’ve forgotten how I set up the Lu family and that male supporting character in The Villain (I’ve forgotten his name too, and don’t feel like looking it up, sorry). So if I do start this one, I might focus on the romance and just make up the plot as I go (?).
The title is meant to capture the premise: the heroine is married, the second male lead becomes the other man and takes the top spot, and he’s a yandere who takes the submissive role. It’s not the official title. For various wholesome and harmonious reasons, I can’t be too explicit, so I’ve left it like this. The heroine’s not really called Madam Li. She’s the eldest daughter of the Lu family, a powerful figure who secretly manipulates the martial world.
#Carefree Heartless Woman x Yandere Wolfdog / Tortured Male Lead / Second Male Lead Takes the Top Spot / Martial World / Coming of Age
Blurb:
Lu Yaoyue, the eldest daughter of Kongjing Manor, is not only highly skilled in martial arts and exceptionally clever, but also stunningly beautiful, with a figure as graceful as an immortal’s. Three years ago, she suddenly vanished, and the Lu family refused to speak of her whereabouts.
Everyone said she had met a gruesome end. No one knew she was alive and well, living under the name Wu Liao, and had even married Li Yan, a notorious playboy in the martial world, becoming Madam Li in name only.
In their three years of marriage, Wu Liao has made a hobby of taking concubines for Li Yan. She loves making him happy, then taking a bowl of blood from his heart.
Their marriage has no love in it. It’s just a transaction: he wants the Lu family’s influence, and she needs his blood to cure poison and save lives.
They had been using each other, and their relationship was stable enough. Then one day, while out buying a maid, Wu Liao bought a handsome young man on a whim...
The boy is naive and inexperienced, as pure as a white flower. He follows Wu Liao like a little dog trailing its master, never letting himself fall behind. When he learns she bought him only to please the master of the house, the clear innocence he had been pretending to show gives way to murky depths once more.
He walks into Wu Liao’s room and sets down a jug of wine.
“Master, don’t you want to unwrap your gift before you give it away?”
Important: Both leads are each other’s first, one-on-one, happy ending.
The male lead gets put through the wringer, and has it really rough (but I’m enjoying myself, so don’t read if you don’t like that).
The male lead is a yandere, obsessive and without principles. He will turn dark and force his love on her. He’s the second male lead who takes the top spot.
The heroine’s marriage is fake: no certificate, no wedding ceremony, and they never consummated it (don’t ask why, she’s proud and doesn’t think much of Li Yan).
The heroine has no romantic feelings for the male lead at first. She treats him purely as a pet dog.
Four-year age gap, with the woman older. Set in a fictional wuxia martial world. Don’t overthink the details or bring in modern-day logic.
Theme: Love needs sincerity.
