Blurb:
A Yue transmigrates to ancient times. The year she enters the selection, she is chosen for the palace. Once she steps inside, she finds herself trapped in a world of intrigue and deception. She isn't very clever, and spends the whole carriage ride crying over her misfortune.
But as soon as she steps down from the carriage, she sees the beautiful older sister she once saved by chance as a child.
The woman is so stunningly beautiful that she takes A Yue's breath away.
She gently wipes the tears from A Yue's face. "With me here, who would dare bully you?"
A Yue stares blankly and lets out a hiccup.
From that day on, A Yue watches as her beautiful older sister rises from Talented Lady to Noble Lady, Concubine, Consort, Imperial Noble Consort, and finally Empress.
All the while, A Yue clings to her powerful ally, throwing her weight around under her protection, until she becomes the most envied woman in the entire palace.
When it rains, A Yue is afraid of thunder, so she steals the Emperor's favor for herself. Sniffling, she says, "Sister, look what he did."
"Your Majesty, perhaps another time."
A Yue looks up at her pitifully. "Sister, she wants to hurt me."
"There, there. I'll send her to the Cold Palace in a few days."
Every now and then, A Yue clings to her and coos, "Sister, I really do like that pretty eunuch."
"All right, all right. Take this specially made sedative and put it to use."
*
The fake eunuch who wields power over the court watches the little crybaby excitedly bring him a cup of cloudy, bottomless "tea" and falls silent for a moment.
A Yue puts on a coy, forced air of composure. "Director, I offer you this cup."
The great eunuch, whose name strikes fear into all who hear it, takes the "tea" unhurriedly, his ears turning red.
"..."
He drains it in one gulp.
Notes:
1. One-on-one romance, both leads are virgins, happy ending. The male lead is a fake eunuch.
2. Set in an imaginary world, very loosely based on anything.
