[Sweet on the outside, dark within x Mad dog]
[Zhu Yue x Lou Du]
Legend has it that the Xuanhuang Mountain beyond the heavens is where the Heavenly Dao, which governs the cause and effect of all things in the world, resides. The Heavenly Dao has always watched the vicissitudes of the three realms from beyond the heavens, and never interferes.
But legend also says that the Heavenly Dao is compassionate. When the world faces a crisis it cannot overcome on its own, the Heavenly Dao always leaves its children a glimmer of hope.

Zhu Yue transmigrates into a book one day, becoming an anonymous cannon-fodder character who wanders the three realms with a broken bowl.
The cannon fodder has no lofty ambitions. She doesn't want to rule the world or live forever.
At most, she lives by the motto, "Do a good deed every day and build up some merit," picking up this person and talking sense into that one. Zhu Yue thinks this laid-back life is pretty pleasant. Before long, she even picks up a master who is an Immortal Venerable on Mount Buzhou, along with the souls of three peerless spirit infants.
Later, Zhu Yue brings home a dying little lion dog. It looks just as round-headed and lively as the one she raised before transmigrating into a book, and she adores it.
But before Zhu Yue can enjoy cuddling it for long, she learns that the little lion dog is actually a Xuanhuang ferocious beast, left behind by the Heavenly Dao to safeguard the world's chance of survival.
No matter how reluctant Zhu Yue is, she can only gaze sadly at the puppy's wrinkled face, send him down Mount Buzhou, and let him seek out that chance of survival and save all living beings.
Who could have guessed that after circling Mount Buzhou and taking human form, the puppy would immediately knock on the gate of Zhu Yue's little courtyard?
"Sis, you've been on paid leave for long enough. Time to get ready to come back to work."
Zhu Yue: ???
So I was lazing around to the extreme, doing a perfectly good job as cannon fodder, and then a ferocious beast suddenly tells me that I'm the world's all-important chance of survival, and that I have to save all living beings?

If Zhu Yue had been clear-minded all her life, she could see through anything and everything at a glance. Yet when it came to her own life, she never found an answer.
She once climbed Xuanhuang Mountain on foot, hoping the Heavenly Dao would answer her questions.
The Heavenly Dao only smiled and said nothing.
Much later, Zhu Yue stood once again atop Xuanhuang Mountain, gazing at the supreme throne of the Heavenly Dao that everyone had coveted, and murmured the answer she had finally understood.
"This is the key that lets me remain true to myself, even after spending tens of thousands of years surrounded by filth and ugliness."
"This is the Heavenly Dao's painstaking plan."
Happy ending. The male lead is strong, but the female lead is even stronger.
