Lexi is a Chinese-French mutant. After an accident revealed her mother's mutant identity, her father protected her and Lexi, refusing to reveal their hiding place even to the death. After losing him, her mother had only Lexi to rely on. They found a home in London amid the chaos, but disaster struck without warning: Lexi's mother was also killed after humans discovered she was a mutant. Sixteen-year-old Lexi had been wandering alone for half a year when she met Charles. She grew up alongside him, and, following her parents' warning, she never fully revealed her powers after learning that Charles was a mutant. Instead, she hid them as much as possible, so Charles always thought she was a mutant with powers so weak they might as well not exist. (Actually, she's really strong, so strong that even Charles can't beat her later.) Until many years later...
