The Infinite-Flow Cannon Fodder NPC Just Wants to Survive

[Don't subscribe to the whole thing at once! I'm still learning how to write plots, and I'll try to do better in my next book.] [Feel-good story, beloved by everyone, somewhat weak protagonist. If that's not your thing, don't read.] [The comments section has been closed because arguments there were affecting readers' experience. Comments in the early chapters helped earn bonus updates, and I'll keep writing until the end~] There are many kinds of NPCs: black NPCs who execute players, white NPCs who stand by and watch, and unlucky clue NPCs whose only job is to die. Players can kill a clue NPC to obtain crucial information. Dungeon bosses also want to kill clue NPCs so they can obtain key items and grow stronger. Unfortunately, the role Mu Sheng gets when he enters the horror game is that of a clueless, suicidal clue NPC. * The moment the game begins, the System advises: [Players are advised to behave themselves, keep a low profile, change their cannon-fodder persona, and improve their chances of survival.] Mu Sheng asks curiously: [How much can I improve them?] System: [According to calculations, from 0% to 0.1%.] Mu Sheng: "What's the difference?" System: [You'll die a little more slowly.] Mu Sheng: "..." * Players in the horror game discover that the NPCs in this dungeon all seem a little off. One player breaks a rule. The black NPC mutates and is about to execute them when... Footsteps sound. The person who arrives is the ordinary NPC the players have been watching ever since they entered the dungeon: He's short-tempered and not very bright. Apart from that face, he seems to have nothing going for him, yet for some reason, it's impossible to look away. The monster suddenly stops moving, its terrifying appearance returning to normal in an instant. It turns its head, its handsome features restored. "Shengsheng, what brings you here?" The "ordinary NPC," Mu Sheng, speaks with casual authority. "What was that noise just now?" Behind Mu Sheng, the black NPC takes on its terrifying appearance once more. But its reply is still gentle: "Of course... nothing. Nothing happened." It glares coldly at the players, its murderous intent and threat unmistakable. The players suddenly remember a rule in the horror game that has long been forgotten: Never let ordinary NPCs know they're in a strange dungeon. Otherwise, they'll break down and disappear. This is probably the story of a clue NPC who wants to survive, doing his best to maintain his persona and blend in with the ordinary NPCs for the sake of survival and happiness, only to become everyone's favorite, beloved by both humans and ghosts. Upcoming dungeons: [A spoiled, sycophantic, cowardly, fickle lackey who tries to play both sides] [A timid, half-blind bottom with an aloof older brother, a rebellious younger brother, an emotionally abusive boyfriend, and eyesight that fails him from time to time] Reader's notes: 1. The protagonist is a fake cannon-fodder idiot. He's somewhat intelligent, but not smarter than the author. ( 2. The protagonist is mentally ill. He's a self-sacrificing do-gooder, but not in the conventional sense. He enjoys changing other people's fates and could be called a self-serving altruist to some extent. He uses the convenience of his NPC identity to save people. 3. This isn't a traditional plot-driven unlimited-flow story. The love interest is split into multiple aspects, so it may not suit readers who are extremely devoted to the love interest. If you can't accept that, run. 4. The protagonist is beloved by everyone, human and ghost alike, and is very much a Mary Sue. The various aspects of the love interest all like him and have a past connection with him, but at the start of this story it looks like love at first sight. If you can't accept that, don't read. Coming soon: [Playing a Beauty NPC on a Dating Show in an Infinite-Flow Game] [I'm working on the manuscript. December is busy, so I'll probably start posting at the end of December or early January.] [For now, all the planned worlds are dating shows. It's a no-plot, beloved-by-everyone beauty-bottom story, and the love interest is a split-aspect stalker. I'm tired of bitter, doomed couples who only pretend to be together and guys' nights out. I want to write something sweet, with a great cast, for a change.] At the moment of his death, Shi Ci is absorbed into an infinite-flow game. But he doesn't have to participate in any of its official dungeons. His sole duty is to be a filler NPC on a new dating show livestream launched by the infinite-flow main System. He plays a supporting role for the big shots on the show, annoying them to make the plot more dramatic and satisfy the audience's appetite for spectacle. Shi Ci: I'm great at being a tool and cannon fodder! Is there any safer job in an infinite-flow game? Halfway through the first scene: A flamboyant magician hands him a bouquet. The vines among the flowers twist around and cling to him in the middle of the night, blushing red. A cold, calculating fortune-teller compliments him on his fresh brain(?) and perfect proportions, then says he wants to study in depth how Shi Ci keeps in shape. An irritable infinite-flow big shot, who was supposed to send him packing, asks where he'd like to go on their next date. Shi Ci, unable to clock out on time: I want to die. First world: [A vain, brainless, spoiled beauty and cannon-fodder NPC with no boundaries or self-control, juggling multiple partners and thinking he's got the male contestants hooked, when really he's just a substitute] -> [Everyone supposedly hates him, yet he receives three messages from people interested in him on the very first night] Second world: [A lying, inferior-grade Alpha who sneaks in as a low-quality contestant on the men's side, then gets cast out for harassing a contestant on the red team's side] -> [He gets manipulated into becoming an Omega. Even the Omegas are into a weak Alpha. Does that make sense?] Theme: Even in dire circumstances, never forget your good qualities. Stay true to yourself.
