Falling Into Your Universe

Xie Huaizhi noticed that Jiang Qi's eyes were different shades, one dark and one light.

Jiang Qi asked casually, "Which one do you like?"

"The darker one."

"Why?"

Xie Huaizhi gazed into the man's pitch-black eye.

"I don't know. It just feels like there's a whole world in that eye."

Jiang Qi's gaze lingered on her, the woman's reflection in his pupil.

He smiled faintly. "There is. A whole world."

Later, Xie Huaizhi accidentally walked into Jiang Qi's room.

In the dim room, a lamp glowed on the table. Beneath it lay a dark-colored prosthetic eye.

Jiang Qi's profile was hidden in the shadows, the hollow of his left eye looking eerie.

Xie Huaizhi covered her mouth.

Jiang Qi's lips twitched. "Did I scare you?"

Xie Huaizhi stepped closer, taking a clearer look at the empty socket. She touched the man's eye socket.

"How did it happen?"

Jiang Qi answered casually, "I lost it on a mission. Someone gouged it out."

A tear slid from the corner of Xie Huaizhi's eye like a pearl, landing in Jiang Qi's palm.

Jiang Qi smiled, wrapped an arm around the woman's waist, and pulled her into his embrace, teasing her gently. "Why are you crying?"

At first, Jiang Qi thought dealing with Xie Huaizhi would be easy. She was straightforward.

After they got together, he realized Xie Huaizhi was a real handful, a delicate little crybaby.

Every time he came back from a mission, her eyes would turn red.

A bullet couldn't pierce his heart as deeply as one of her tears, and he had to spend ages comforting her.
