The Old Building

A steady thump-thump-thump always comes from upstairs in the middle of the night.

Grandpa can't hear it. His hearing is bad.

Someone has opened the locked room at the end of the hallway.

The chubby old lady in apartment 204 across the hall has been chopping meat every day lately. She wants you to try her meatballs.

Ever since Old Mr. Sun on the third floor was carried away, he has liked wandering the hallway.

A black cat jumps in through your window, and there's a strange stench in the house.

Grandpa says the apartment in this old building is yours to keep.

An immersive second-person supernatural novel

Note:

1. Written in the second person. The protagonist is seven years old at the start, an odd, solitary child.

2. It's probably going to be short. If it gets longer, it's because the author couldn't resist adding a ton of worldbuilding.

Theme: Treasure old photographs, faded by time
