Back to Age Seventeen in the Millennium

In the summer of 2007, seventeen-year-old Xia Ling suddenly felt a pain in her head. She looked at the streets, where old and new stood side by side, and at the young men and women all over town with their nonconformist, spiky hairstyles. She felt strangely out of place among them, as if she'd forgotten something important. She couldn't remember what she had forgotten. In a coastal town whose economy was booming, she dutifully worked to earn a living. Then one day, she met a man at an internet cafe. He wore a cropped black T-shirt with exposed shoulders. His features were sharply defined, and he was very handsome, though a little gaunt. A broken women's watch was on his wrist. Among the rowdy troublemakers at the internet cafe, he quickly took down the guys who were fighting. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, turned to see her, and frowned. "What are you doing here?" The ripples began to disturb the calm of their ordinary days. Zhuo Yang never thought he'd fall for Xia Ling. She wasn't his type. He had always preferred women who were strikingly beautiful, gentle-tempered, and voluptuous. Xia Ling was the opposite: hardheaded and hot-tempered, ready to explode at the slightest provocation, yet fragile and sensitive at heart, innocent, kind, and easy to deceive. He kept pushing her away, yet couldn't stop falling deeper and deeper for her. Then the day came when, eyes red, he knelt before her and begged, "A Ling, please don't leave me." People in love are often emboldened by that love. In the long stream of time, amid daily necessities and the small, trivial things of everyday life, they overlook the days when they once loved each other. I hope that one day, when you look back at me, you'll understand that I have always loved you. I've always hoped you would love me back with the passion and sincerity I've longed for, Xia Ling. Content warning: Tragic ending. The male lead isn't perfect. Theme: There is true love in this world.
