Xia Chi is an orphan who owns a small Western-style house. Despite his handsome looks and gentle personality, he has no idea why he can never make any friends. So he decides to sell the house and move away, but accidentally finds a strange storybook in the attic.
The first story is the familiar tale of Snow White. The moment he turns the page, a flash of bright light sweeps over him, and he is sucked into the world of the book, where he becomes the princess.
The world inside the book is bizarre and absurd, but the princess gets to be loved by so many people. Xia Chi wants to stay.
But this world is home not only to a group of mutated, twisted fairytale characters, but also to a bunch of people who call themselves Taskers. They claim they're there to save the princess, and want to take him out of the story.
Xia Chi crushes the head of a soldier pursuing Snow White with one hand, then turns to the Taskers. "Thanks, but I'm a guy, and... you guys seem even more useless than me."
Snow White:
According to the plot, all he has to do is eat the poisoned apple and pretend to die to meet the prince. Xia Chi takes the witch's apple, but before he can even open his mouth, a Tasker disguised as one of the Seven Dwarfs snatches the red apple and throws it outside. "Don't eat it! It's poisoned!"
Xia Chi counts silently: That's the 234th apple you've thrown away from me.
The queen is exhausted. So is he.
Cinderella:
As Cinderella, his mother tells him stories every day and teaches him to be strong and brave, merciful and kind.
Xia Chi: I understand all that, but for the sake of your child's healthy development, could you grow your head back before telling me stories?
Every princess is supposed to have a prince she loves, and Xia Chi has one too. But his prince always shows up as a wizard, a dragon, a woodcutter, or a wicked stepbrother. One day, before leaving a fairytale, he couldn't help asking, "Can't you be a normal prince just once?"
His prince thought it over for a moment. "Of course I can."
So Xia Chi eagerly entered the storybook again. This time it was The Little Mermaid. His prince really was a prince, except he was the prince from another kingdom who took credit for saving the mermaid. And Xia Chi was the fish.
Xia Chi: ...

The rescued princess: Excuse me, aren't you both supposed to fall in love with me according to the plot? (grumbling)
