Knife Spirit Online, Serving Up Angst

Katori Asahi. That’s the name the little dagger spirit just drew.

According to the glowing orb in front of it, which called itself a System, it accidentally bumped into the dagger. And so Katori Asahi gained consciousness and became a spirit. In exchange, Katori Asahi had to help the System complete its missions.

As a newly awakened dagger spirit with no common sense or moral compass, and only a sense of beauty, it couldn’t understand anything. The System had to apply for "knowledge" on the spot so it could learn about the world.

To put it simply, a certain famous manga artist is creating an official fanwork manga meant to save the characters. It needs to enter a virtual world and help the manga artist finish the story.

The System says this is a spin-off of a very famous manga. It needs to make a name for itself, gain popularity, and learn common sense in a slice-of-life manga starting at the police academy. Then it can kick out the heartless 73 and his tragic plot twists. In the end, the System will reward it according to how well it does, with something like a real life.

As the Host's support System, it has a "forum" feature that lets the Host see the manga’s plot and fan comments, so the Host can adjust what happens next.

In theory, this wasn’t a job for a dagger spirit that knew nothing. Looking at the System, which seemed a little reluctant, Katori Asahi sensed there might be something going on.

The System had accidentally bound itself to a fancy decorative dagger. When it first found out, it was speechless.

The dagger had gained its own consciousness, and the System couldn’t undo the binding. It was devastated.

So it had no choice but to reluctantly spend what little points it had saved up on a knowledge package for its Host. You’ve got to have dreams. Maybe a miracle will happen (.).

After seeing its Host’s true form, the System changed its mind in an instant.

Katori Asahi was a decorative piece belonging to the emperor, made of gold and exquisitely crafted, with red and blue gemstones set into it. So the form Katori Asahi took was not only blessed with soft, dazzling golden hair, but also clear, intoxicating red-and-blue eyes. It was breathtakingly beautiful, the very picture of a perfect male lead.

That gorgeous appearance had the System dancing to the beat of its own tastes.

And so Katori Asahi’s status changed in an instant from Host to "my baby."

My take on Conan, out of character, with time skips. The protagonist has no romantic pairing, but the forum will casually ship characters. The protagonist has a secret identity that won’t be exposed.

The protagonist is a truly beautiful, airheaded little goof. Don’t expect too much from a little dagger that knows nothing (×).

A fix-it story. Anyone can be saved, anyone can be saved.

There’ll probably be plenty of things people dislike. You can’t avoid them all, so read with care.
