[An ancient demon fox male lead who can twist a skull open with his bare hands outside, but turns into a weak, silly, clingy sweetheart at home VS a fox-obsessed female lead who's a human weapon with endless tricks and top-tier combat skills]
The full-dive game terminal simulator malfunctioned, pulling players from the real world into the game. Just as panic began to set in, two lines of text appeared across the boundless sky screen.
[The full-dive game Pet University is now online!]
[Congratulations, you're a player! Come claim your pet baby.]
Flying Bone Beasts, Firelight Beasts, qilin, hou, Yellow Bears, Jiao, Azure Dragons, teng snakes, Gouchen... One by one, mythical creatures from the Classic of Mountains and Seas appeared before the players.
As the players stood there in a daze, more text appeared in the sky.
[Player Guidelines:
1. Players must take quests regularly to earn spirit coins and provide their pet babies with the best possible living conditions.
2. Players may not refuse any request from their pet babies. If you do, you'll bear the consequences yourself.
9. Ensure your pet babies' physical and mental well-being, then enroll them at Pet University for a full course of education.
10. Once your babies graduate, you may leave this place.]
Thinking they only had to raise their kids and send them to university, the players diligently followed the rules and began taking quests to raise their babies and send them to school.
Qu Chusi's pet was a little fox, sweet and clueless. She took the cub to and from school every day, picked up quests from the System, and earned some pocket money. Life was easy and pleasant.
She thought everyone's babies were this obedient and that everyone had such a leisurely life. Then, while waiting outside kindergarten for her little fox to get out, Qu Chusi watched in horror as a player who refused to buy two ice cream bars for her little snake cub was swallowed whole by the teng snake, which had reverted to its true form, its body large enough to block out the sun.
The players watching were shocked, but even more of them were numb to it all.
Qu Chusi frowned and carefully recalled how she'd treated her fox cub.
"Yip, yip." It didn't want to eat carrots.
"You have to eat them. Little cubs can't be picky."
"Yip, yip." It wanted to watch cartoons.
"You haven't finished your homework. No cartoons."
She sucked in a sharp breath and realized that she'd hardly ever given in to the cub. And she'd just refused its request for an extra meal.
After thinking for three seconds, she decided to take a quest.
If her cub wanted a snack, it had to have one.
She'd go earn money right now and buy it something to eat.
Qu Chusi rampaged through her quests, ignoring the game's taboos. When she got home with a handsome reward, she saw her well-behaved little fox cub slaughtering a monster dozens of times its size, then flicking its tail and reducing it to dust.
Qu Chusi stopped in her tracks. The fox cub, which had been ferocious moments earlier, heard her and leaped into her arms. It rubbed against her and whimpered softly, acting cute. "Master, I missed you so much."
"..."
That little rascal was quite the actor.
Reader's Guide:
1. All pet babies are based on mythical creatures from the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
2. Players raise their babies while trying to survive. The System determines the difficulty of the quests. The female lead is the strongest in the entire story.
3. The male lead takes human form midway through the story and is the strongest of all the pet babies.
4. The game has five stages: kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, high school, and university. It's a lighthearted, humorous story, an unconventional infinite-flow tale about raising babies while fighting monsters.
5. The opening chapters are subject to revision. Screenshots were taken on July 31, 2022.
