The Big Shot Became a Total Softie

Check out my upcoming futuristic mecha novel, "I'm Done Picking Through Trash" Martial God Song Lu self-destructed. She arrived in a new world: the Federal Planets. To become a mecha soldier, Song Lu took the entrance test for prospective soldiers. But Song Lu, with her frail constitution and weak body, didn't meet the requirements. Undiscouraged, little Song's passionate, fearless attitude moved the principal. She was admitted by special exception, but assigned to the academy's prospective mecha engineer program instead. She'd heard mecha engineers were refined, technical types. On the battlefield, mecha soldiers took the lead in combat (fighting); second came weaker mecha soldiers; third, third came the commanders. Mecha engineers? Mecha engineers cheered from the back. Song Lu: "…" From then on, little Song resolved to become the toughest mecha engineer in the entire Federation! * After entering military academy, she competed in the Federation's most famous military academy tournament. When she made her entrance, Song Lu, the refined, delicate mecha engineer, made a bold declaration in front of the media cameras: she'd take first place in every match. Federation military fans scoffed. Nobody could stand this mecha engineer who was such a show-off. In the first match, Song Lu "accidentally" knocked over the target person protected by the rival academy. Delicate Song: "It was an accident." Everyone: "?" Then why did you pull out their mecha's energy core? After that, in every match, Delicate Song made sure to show off the target-person insignia on her mecha. She was "afraid" the other schools wouldn't see it, so she even deliberately stepped forward to make it easier for them to attack. In the end, everyone who tried to take Song Lu's head became points on her kill tally. Delicate Song: "I'm just a delicate technical type who can't even look after herself." Everyone: "…" You think we believe that? Later, the mecha engineer squad led by Delicate Song earned such a reputation for being abnormal that students at every military academy in the Federation couldn't help cursing them: "Damn it, you bunch of freaks!" A little interlude: After Song Lu's true abilities were exposed, a reporter interviewed her: "As one of this year's most popular military academy students, how did you get onto the path of dual training as a soldier and engineer?" Song Lu answered earnestly: "With the passion to become the strongest soldier." Reporter: "…Military fans say you're the most talented mecha engineer of your generation." Song Lu looked utterly resistant. "They have a pretty big filter on me." The reporter took a breath and continued: "…Do you know what military fans call you and the mecha engineers at your academy?" Song Lu: "?" Reporter: "The Freak Mecha Engineer Squad." Song Lu paused for a second. "That's what counts as a freak?" Reporter: "?" Song Lu stared into the camera. "Then you haven't seen what a real freak can do..." A few teammates covered Song Lu's mouth and dragged her away. That day, posts circulated across the Federal Star Network with titles like "Delicate Song Is Seriously Talking Nonsense Again," "How Much More of a Freak Does She Want to Be?" and "My Dream of Becoming the Strongest Soldier Made Me a Genius Mecha Engineer," all military academy news that looked decidedly unserious. Note: The story uses standard sci-fi mecha genre conventions, along with quite a few author-added details. Strong female lead, ensemble cast. The heroine is passionate, not a strategist. One-sided crushes aren't ruled out, and the romance will develop if it does (doge). P.S. The heroine starts out a little out of sorts, but she'll gradually regain her strength.
