Meng Yuntang was tricked by her younger cousin into marrying Yan Ci, the heir to the Marquis of Min'an.
For three years, they treated each other with icy politeness. At last, Meng Yuntang coaxed and persuaded Yan Ci into giving her a divorce agreement.
Thinking she had a new lease on life, she happily headed home, only to spot her childhood fiancé on the street: He Linfeng, the grandson of the Duke of Weiguo, whose entire family had been wiped out in the struggle for the throne eight years ago.
Now his cousin had ascended the throne, and after eight years in exile, He Linfeng had finally been cleared of the charges and allowed to return to the capital.
Meng Yuntang hid among the crowd and secretly watched him. The young man rode a white horse with a silver saddle, dressed in military garb and bearing a grudge. He was sharp and cold as a sword, with a striking beauty unlike any other.
He was arrogant and aloof, and did not spare her even a glance.
Meng Yuntang secretly breathed a sigh of relief and happily went home anyway.
She couldn't afford to provoke him back then, and she could afford it even less now.
Fortunately, he was now the Duke of Weiguo and a great general, enjoying the height of power and favor. Surely he wouldn't come after her, the divorced woman who had offended him eight years ago.
Never in her wildest dreams did Meng Yuntang expect her cousin to drug her with a cup of tea just to curry favor with He Linfeng, then send her straight to the duke's residence and into his bedchamber.
His long hair hung loose, his clothes half undone. In the dim lamplight, he held her captive, his long, powerful fingers circling her slender neck as he pinned her hard against the bed. His eyes burned with jealousy and hatred, like poisonous flames. "You married at sixteen, huh? You thought I'd died out there, didn't you?"
Yan Ci had always found it strange that He Linfeng kept targeting him when they had no grudge against each other.
It wasn't until the hunting grounds that he saw the proud, aloof, peerless Duke of Weiguo kneeling on the ground to put shoes on his ex-wife.
Handsome, powerful, and tragically misunderstood, scheming childhood sweetheart & cheerful, food-loving childhood friend
A few things to know:
1. The heroine and the male supporting character married for appearances and were never intimate as husband and wife.
2. Set in an imaginary world, partly modeled on the Tang Dynasty. No need to worry about historical accuracy.
Theme: Learn to express love in the right way.
The chase is over. The text is good, and the male protagonist has a lot of personality, a bit awkward and arrogant. The extra is a sweet version, but it's really a bit bland. His suffering has made him successful. It's true, but I'd rather he be ordinary.
I gave up on the if line and didn't watch it. I finished the original version and the extras in one go. Although the plot is cliche and not nutritious, the writing is excellent. The interactions and pulls between the young lovers are detailed, vivid and interesting. It is perfect as a decompression cookie. It is so sweet that I need to take insulin after reading it. I can't rate it if I didn't buy it all, but it gave me a pleasant three days. Thank you, the author~
I can't remember how many times I've watched it, I really love it so much
I really like the extra story, they all have a beautiful and beautiful family, how nice it is! [Red heart]
