The White Moonlight's Substitute Doesn't Want the Job [Old-School Drama]

Ran Yi is a daughter born to a concubine, and she looks very much like her legitimate elder sister. Thanks to her sister, she is treated fairly well in the household.

Her elder sister is gentle and is the regent's beloved. On the day of the winter solstice, she eloped with someone else. The regent's face turned cold, and he vowed to slaughter the entire Ran household.

At the time, Ran Yi was kneeling in the deep snow, her hands red with cold as she gently tugged at his hem. She said, "I can love you in my elder sister's place."

So, thanks to her elder sister, she became the regent's consort, second only to him in the regent's household: The Outcast.

Ran Yi thought that simply being able to stand by his side was already a tremendous joy.

But as time passed, she sank into her feelings with clear eyes, and gradually grew greedy. So greedy that she wanted him to look at her, wanted him to call her name when he was drenched in sweat, wanted to hear him say, "You bring me more joy than your elder sister..."

She knew none of these things would come true. She also knew he disliked her deliberately making a scene to get his attention, so even when she disappeared, she did so without a sound.

The wind swept up her farewell letter. Snow settled across her shoulders, and the words in dark ink on peach-blossom paper read:

I'm sorry. I take back my fierce and presumptuous love.
