Long Live the Empress Dowager

[Female Lead, No CP]

When Pei Xingzhao was six, her brother died of illness. Her grandmother and mother, who favored boys over girls, took out their grief on her and sold her off. They told everyone that she had run away from home for no reason and was missing.

Seven years later, Pei Xingzhao distinguished herself in the army. Three years after that, she became a female marquis renowned throughout the realm. With command of an army and beauty that seemed almost otherworldly, she attracted marriage proposals from princes, nobles, and powerful ministers, all asking the emperor to grant them her hand.

In the end, the ailing emperor took her as his wife and made her empress.

But there were conditions: first, clear the names of the two comrades who had died unjustly; second, abolish the practice of burying people alive with the deceased.

Pei Xingzhao took just over a month to rise from empress to empress dowager, entrusted with regency by imperial decree. That year, she was eighteen.

At the peak of glory, Pei Xingzhao smiled like a spring breeze, while murderous intent flickered in her eyes.

The treacherous men who had conspired against loyal officials and gotten away with it, and the family that had once abandoned and suppressed her before currying favor and scheming against her, would all be brought to justice.

Of course, she would also have to manage the affairs of the imperial harem. She would readily help those worth helping, and beat down anyone who dared provoke her.

And the vast realm for which she had once poured out her blood and passion would continue to receive all her efforts, as she sought peace across the four seas and prosperity for the age.

Anyone who stood in her way would die.
