As a stone, Xi Yingsha has been drinking her aunt's dishwater for many years.
Unable to move, she passes the time by observing humans:
Her old-fashioned tutor blossoms late in life and starts pursuing the tofu seller, a widow;
Er Niu and Xiao Ya, the kids at the village entrance, go from throwing mud at each other as children to acting bashful and unable to stop smiling at each other one day;
Even the goose that had been wandering around in front of her alone just a few days ago soon has a young, beautiful goose trailing behind it.
She is puzzled. She is bewildered. She cannot make sense of it.
Could the power of love really explain all this?
And so, once Xi Yingsha becomes an adult, she eagerly raises her arms and declares, "I want a once-in-a-lifetime romance!"
Aunt: ...Can we put this thing back where it came from?
