Chu Yun is nicknamed "Crab Chu." Thanks to his masterful acting and his silver tongue, which can turn black into white, he always manages to win his grandmother's protection after getting into trouble. As a result, the cane in his father's hands has never once landed a blow.
That is, until a young constable with a sense of smell far sharper than most comes along.
One day, Chu Yun is ordered to follow up on a lead. He sneaks off to have fun along the way, then returns to the Dali Temple. Seeing his father's face as dark as a pot, he calmly clears his throat and starts making things up.
"The clues were hidden among the crowds. I had to question several households before I got the answers. I rushed back to report to Your Honor without even stopping for a drink of water, and yet I still kept you waiting."
Chu's father snorts. In light of his having completed the assignment, he barely manages to suppress his anger.
Just then, the young constable sidles up beside Chu Yun and whispers, "Convince your father to give me a raise."
Chu Yun: "?" He's always been the one threatening other people. Nobody has ever tried to blackmail him before, so he refuses without a second thought.
The two stare at each other. The young constable patiently urges him to think it over.
"No way. If you want a raise, get promoted."
The young constable sighs, then quickly moves away from him and announces loudly, "Your Honor, I smell roast duck, roast chicken, and roast goose. It smells delicious!"
Chu Yun: "..."
Chu's father: "Bring me the thickest cane!!!"
