Your Spirit Companion Is Petting Me

People who can see spirit forms

are called "the Kindred."

Those who can tame spirit forms are "high-grade Kindred," born to rule over others. Those born in the slums who can't use spirit forms are called "low-grade Kindred," and all they can expect is exclusion, murder...

Unfortunately, Lin Yu is the latter.

He carefully conceals his nature until his older brother, who sends money home every month, suddenly disappears in restricted zone D13, and his younger sister's illness worsens. With no choice, Lin Yu has to enter the restricted zone. As more and more "high-grade Kindred" gather around him, it seems he can no longer hide the fact that he's a "low-grade Kindred."

*

High-grade Kindred can not only see other people's spirit forms, but also hide their own. They just sometimes let their guard down around Lin Yu, who they think is an "ordinary person."

For instance, his talkative landlord, all smiles and warm hospitality on the surface, often watches him from the shadows with a cold, slender tongue, coiling and crawling as it eyes him hungrily.

Then there's the lovesick teenager, so gorgeous he has no friends. He acts disdainful, but in private, he wraps his tentacles around Lin Yu's fingers, restless and eager, then inexplicably turns bright red.

There's also a serious criminal with a danger rating of ten. Outside, he's a volatile, deranged lunatic. When he comes to Lin Yu, he turns into a quiet kitten licking his fur, and when he's in a good mood, he'll even lick Lin Yu...

Lin Yu, being petted by all sorts of spirit forms, doesn't dare move.

Another day of trying hard to act like an ordinary person.

^_^

In this dangerous restricted zone, only honest, "ordinary" Lin Yu can make them relax for a little while. They can't make out what his spirit form is, but they know they can draw a calming strength from him.

So every day, patients with post-traumatic symptoms, people suffering from painful spirit-form mutations, power-hungry people who've lost control of their minds, failed experimental subjects, and dangerous criminals with mania come knocking, wanting to make a deal with him...
