[Next book: "After Failing to Pretend I Don't Know My Ex [Entertainment Industry]": a rebellious screenwriter x a cold-on-the-outside, warm-on-the-inside actor. The blurb is in my author profile.]

As the head of the debugging team for a game-hopping system, Meng Yi has handled countless bugs. But the bug created by Player 001 is truly something else:

An ABO world, but I'm a sentinel.

An ordinary high school student, with a Bestiary from the start.

A sword cultivator leaves the mountain and enrolls in the mecha piloting department.

Player 001 forcibly merges two high-risk instances that have nothing to do with each other, but his goal is... to fall in love?

Meng Yi: Seriously? I don't believe it.jpg

At their first meeting, despite being on the same side, they insist on staying wary of each other.

Meng Yi focuses on finding evidence that Player 001 sabotaged the instance, but accidentally enters Player 001's mental landscape and is forced to share his feelings.

Player 001 says with a smile: Sorry, I'm a sentinel. I think this mission should be blah blah blah...

Alpha Meng Yi: Could you please turn off the shared feelings first?

Not only does Player 001 refuse, he drags Meng Yi into jumping off a building, then kisses him on the way down.

Meng Yi: Your account is banned :)

After his ban ends, Player 001 returns, taking Meng Yi into his memories.

He ignores every rule and acts outrageously. After showing off, he turns around and plays the poor thing: My real life is awful. Could you keep me company and eat with me in the instance? QAQ

Meng Yi: Sure.

He silently watches Player 001's rebellion and realizes they seem to share the same goal.

Meng Yi: (Getting excited) This is interesting.

Then Player 001 steals Meng Yi's memories and takes him into a long-term instance.

They spend years together, day in and day out, and gradually grow used to each other's presence.

Meng Yi: I'm bored. Turn into a little bird and play with me for a while.

Player 001: Tweet tweet.

Finally, Meng Yi suddenly realizes that Player 001 hasn't been falling in love in any of the last several instances.

Meng Yi: Maybe we...

Player 001: Let's blow up the game developers together!

Meng Yi: ...Fine.

After we blow up the game world, let's have a real romance.

Player 001 says: "When rules are unreasonable, those who blindly obey them are accomplices."

Meng Yi says: "The hidden dragon should not act; the dragon appears in the field; the dragon flies in the heavens."

Come on, be my accomplice.

A clueless, ruthless, sharp-tongued, secretly flirtatious man (Meng Yi) x a wild-on-the-outside, pure-at-heart, affection-starved, bug-ridden drama queen (Player 001/Ruan Ling)

Reader's guide:

1. Planned instances:

[Wild Love Story]: Alpha Meng Yi x Sentinel Ruan Ling (complete)

[Friendly School]: Human Meng Yi x Monster Ruan Ling (complete)

[Sword Cultivator Pilots a Mecha]: Sword Cultivator Meng Yi x Mecha Piloting Student Ruan Ling (complete)

[Rulebreaker]: On-camera streamer Meng Yi x Zombie Makeup Artist Ruan Ling (complete)

[Weekend Lovers]: Traitor Meng Yi x Test Subject Ruan Ling (real world) (ongoing)

2. The phrase "The hidden dragon should not act" in the blurb comes from the Qian hexagram in the Book of Changes. The instances are designed like murder mystery games, with a tiny, tiny amount of horror. Ruan Ling has romantic relationships in the instances (only relationships in name, and only lasting within the instances). The two are devoted to each other.
