The General's Altar

[The full text has been revised. The romance in the official version on Jinjiang has been polished. Enjoy!] Qi Yushuang was born into a family of generals. She lost her mother at a young age and was raised in the palace under the Empress's care. The little boy who toddled after her called her "Sister Qi" every chance he got, clinging to her like a soft, cuddly puppy. Back then, Qi Yushuang thought, "I will protect him forever." Not long afterward, she went to war with her father and made a name for herself on the frontier. Everyone said that after General Qi passed away, she would be the next Great Meng Wall of the northern frontier. Unfortunately, a devastating defeat in Mang Valley left a hundred thousand soldiers dead. Her father died in prison, and the Qi family's generations-long reputation for loyal service was dragged through the mud. Filled with righteous anger, Qi Yushuang left without a word, escorting her father's coffin out of the capital and vanishing from everyone's sight. Only when foreign troops reached the capital, the old emperor was trapped, and the court had no answers did the tearful pleas of loyal ministers finally bring her back. Qi Yushuang took command of the army once more, basking in glory. But when she turned around, she realized that the little puppy from all those years ago seemed to have grown up in the blink of an eye. Those dark, bright eyes were fixed intently on her.
