Nightmare Breaker [Infinite]

[Please add my new novel, Echoes of the Star Tide, to your favorites. My completed novel, After the Frail, Hated One Gives Up on Life, is ready to binge!]

.

A powerful, double-S-ranked, two-faced, sharp-tongued yet secretly tender jealous top x a frail but carefree, plot-following beauty of a bottom who lives life to the fullest (read the guide first!)

Qi Yuan transmigrates into the pitiful bottom of an infinite-loop tragedy novel. The scum top, Xie Lin, is a cold, aloof genius purifier.

In this world, high-risk alternate spaces formed from people’s twisted desires are called Nightmare Realms, and purifiers are tasked with breaking them. Purifiers work in pairs, and Qi Yuan is Xie Lin’s partner, with a 100% compatibility rating.

In the novel, Qi Yuan is of low birth and frail, and has suffered humiliation all his life. After they team up, Xie Lin’s occasional show of concern becomes the only light in his life. In reality, however, Xie Lin sees him as nothing more than a tool for clearing Nightmare Realms. He repeatedly emotionally manipulates and torments Qi Yuan until Qi Yuan dies for his sake.

Anyone else would surely break down at such a hellish start, but not Qi Yuan. He’s having a great time slacking off.

Team up? Go on missions? He refuses all of it.

His broken body needs him to clear Nightmare Realms just to stay alive? Then he’ll go in alone and pull out some wild stunts for everyone to enjoy.

Forced by the plot to team up with the scum top? Then he’ll split up with him inside the Nightmare Realm. You do your thing, I’ll do mine. The principle is to stay out of each other’s way.

Qi Yuan has it all figured out. Since he could die at any moment, he might as well slack off, let loose, and take the most unhinged route through the Nightmare Realms. He’ll live as long as he can:

Playing hide-and-seek with ghosts in an abandoned school, playing detective on a cruise ship where a serial killer is on the loose, calmly cosplaying with his little master after his soul gets stuffed into a doll, volunteering to be infected in an abandoned city besieged by zombies, and approaching the sanity-draining “it” in a hotel governed by supernatural rules...

Purifiers everywhere think this delicate, frail, pale, pretty little vase is playing with fire. No one can pull stunts like this in a Nightmare Realm and survive, and even someone as forceful as Xie Lin has never compromised for anyone.

Qi Yuan: Oops, I survived another instance.jpg

Then, during a later mission, Qi Yuan collapses from a high fever. As a giant evil spirit bears down on him, he thinks he’s finally pushed his luck too far and is about to die

A flash of blades, and he falls into a cool embrace.

Holding him, Xie Lin says angrily, “Why do you keep getting hurt?”

Qi Yuan (looking at him like he’s an idiot.jpg): “Because I have to clear the Nightmare Realm.”

Xie Lin stares at him. “Clearing the Nightmare Realm is nothing compared to you.”

Qi Yuan: ...?

Has the plot gone off the rails? Wasn’t this supposed to be a tragic novel...? Is your characterization wrong?

[Reader’s Guide]

***This is a long novel. I don’t recommend buying the whole thing at once!!

*The bottom is physically frail but very capable, and the top isn’t truly a scum.

*Important: This is an unconventional infinite-loop story, with a few real-world scenes between the instances.

**The story focuses on plot and mystery-solving, with comparatively less romance.

**Note: The bottom cross-dresses in Instance 3. The top is a child in Instance 4. Modern fictional setting, with a world where same-sex marriage is legal.

*This is the author’s second novel. I wrote it on and off for a long time, so it has plenty of rough edges. Thank you to everyone who gives it a read.

Theme: Believe in yourself, hold on to hope, and reach the future.
