Only Spring Knows

The Fallen Princess X The Wild-Dog Knight

-

Back then, Yu Que transferred to a small town, going from pampered to down-and-out, and ran into the biggest trouble of her life.

Eighteen-year-old Chu Yan was arrogant, aloof, and had nothing to his name, yet he set his sights on her.

A year passed, and in the end, they went their separate ways, each taking a different path.

The memory Yu Que was left with on the day they parted was blood and a cold knife. Chu Yan bristled at her again and rasped a warning: "Remember, you owe me your life. Spend the rest of it staying as far away from me as you can."

"If I ever see you again, I won't let you get away."

His voice was low and hoarse, edged with menace.

Like a curse, or perhaps a vow.

When they met again, outside an alley by a bar, the man held a cigarette in his hand and looked down at the woman before him, her dark hair and red lips striking against the black flame tattoo on her slender, pale shoulder.

Yu Que grabbed the man's tie, her eyes reddening. "Chu Yan, you've got me now."

But he loosened her grip. "I let you go."

Once, he had truly wanted to hold on to Yu Que and keep her from flying away again and again. But later, all he wanted was to give up everything he had so she could leave, safe and sound, and fly freely.
