Blame It on This Rain

The age-gap second-chance romance in the linked novel, Kunshan Pianyu. Please add it to your favorites! [We are not responsible for pirated or scrambled content. Please read the official version on Jinjiang.] ■ Handsome, strong, tragic bad boy × sweet, kind-hearted girl ■ Second chances | Mutual healing | Brothers competing for love | Classic melodramatic romance 1- The Shao family has been wealthy for three generations in the capital. Their two sons are close, but while Shao Hexin is cheerful and gentle, everyone says Shao Lin is evil to the core, a born troublemaker. Yet he is young and accomplished, with a forceful way of doing things that makes people fear him even as they can't help but respect him. Tong Yunqian is plagued by a strange illness. Slow to react and blessed with nothing but a pretty face, all she can do is foolishly pine for Shao Hexin. Someone gives her a terrible idea: if she can get close to Shao Lin, she'll win Shao Hexin's favor. She takes the advice to heart. Afterward, people see Shao Lin impatiently shove Tong Yunqian away. Thinking the prank has worked, they secretly laugh at how foolish she is. 2- But then. On the night Tong Yunqian plans to confess to Shao Hexin, Shao Lin locks her in a room, leaving her no way to escape. Shao Hexin searches for her outside the door. Inside, Shao Lin gently strokes her lips. “I'm the one standing in front of you now.” Before leaning in for a well-aimed kiss, he curls his lips into a smile. “Why not give me a try?” Tong Yunqian avoids his intense, unwavering gaze and shakes her head in a panic. But her flushed face gives everything away. 3- The autumn of the fourth year after she escaped him, torrential rain sweeps through Chongjing. Tong Yunqian thinks she can finish her business trip without a fuss and leave quickly, but at the last moment Shao Lin corners her in an alley. When he pins her firmly against the wall, her voice turns tearful. “You're going too far.” “Tong Yunqian.” Shao Lin's expression is cold as he stares at the scar behind her ear where the tattoo was removed. She really was ruthless. Even though it hurt, she still had the tattoo he gave her scrubbed away. Shao Lin's jaw slowly tightens. Smiling, he asks in return, “Which one of us is the one going too far?” -- “Falling in love with you was never my intention.” “If anyone's to blame, it's this rain.” *Both leads' first love | Rising star in AI technology × freelance illustrator *The blurb has an old-fashioned style. I'm flagging that in advance to earn one free pass on criticism √ Written for the author's personal tastes. The heroine has the hero wrapped around her finger throughout, so rest assured √ → Author's sales pitch: The flashback makes up the main story, with plenty of push and pull and lots to enjoy! The reunion section isn't long, but it's wonderful! *The timid, delicate heroine often faints from fright early on. If this type of heroine isn't for you, please don't read. Comments mocking the heroine will be deleted. My next novel is tentatively titled Kunshan Pianyu. When the other village children were bullying her, a man got out of a car, and everyone fell silent. He was dressed in black. His warm coat settled over her like a mountain. With a solemn gaze, Qin Cheng bent down and brushed the dust from her face with his fingertip, telling her that her name wasn't Che Xiaoyu. Her name was Lin Fuyu. He was her big brother. -- Everyone knows Qin Cheng is a bastard whom the Lin family raised to be its heir. Taciturn and cold, with ruthless methods, he has taken the Lin family to new heights. Just then, the heiress who disappeared seventeen years ago returns, throwing the family's upper ranks into chaos. The king isn't a real king, and the princess doesn't seem like a real princess. The shareholders know Qin Cheng could get rid of the sheltered Lin Fuyu with a snap of his fingers. Outside, rumors fly, but inside the villa, the atmosphere is intimate and charged. On the night of her coming-of-age ceremony, Lin Fuyu wears an exquisite princess dress and boldly grabs Qin Cheng by the tie. Her eyes red, she wants only him as her gift. Qin Cheng pulls her away without mercy. Wiping the tears from her face with his fingertip, he says, “Xiaoyu, you're all grown up.” “We're not family anymore.” -- When they meet again, he has already made his fortune on his own and become a rising star. Lin Fuyu deliberately avoids him, but he finds one of her personal pieces of jewelry. The secluded room is filled with the scent of tea. She refuses to come even a step closer. “Who are you...? Give it back.” Qin Cheng lowers his eyes. His gaze is cool, but he wears a smile as his fingertip strokes the jade pendant. “Xiaoyu, I distinctly remember telling you...” “Never forget Qin Cheng.” Theme: When you're trapped in darkness with no way back, no matter how painful it is, the only choice is to keep moving forward.
