A Underworld Civil Servant Drops Into the Trending Topics

Fu Yin's family has always made a living dealing with the dead and working with the Underworld's Soul Reapers. His father died young, and when his grandfather retired, he passed the part-time job on to Fu Yin.

But Fu Yin had other ambitions. Handsome and beautiful, he charged into the entertainment industry after graduating from college, determined to become a superstar.

Three years later, whether because Fu Yin had no connections or because his family's ancestral work with the dead had left him with weak yang energy and bad luck, he still hadn't become a superstar. Instead, he was now an assistant to one.

By day, Fu Yin served tea, arranged schedules, and ran errands. At night, he took out his soul-catching rope and worked as a Soul Reaper on the side. He was the ultimate modern-day corporate drudge.

Later, at his grandfather's funeral, Fu Yin was dressed in mourning clothes when his celebrity boss called, barking orders.

"Did you ask the company for leave? Did you ask me? Who's your boss? Your grandfather's dead. Do you think you can bring him back by going there? Get back here right now!"

Fu Yin snapped.

This kind of life wasn't fit for a human being!

He was done living! He'd kill himself and become a full-time Soul Reaper!

He'd do the proper job and enjoy the finest incense!

Fu Yin did what he said. As soon as the funeral was over, he rushed home, climbed into the bathtub, and slit his wrists.

His Soul Reaper colleague brought bad news. "You can still come back to life if you hurry. The Underworld needs someone to take care of things in the mortal world, and they've just assigned you a job. What good is a living Soul Reaper who's dead? You have to finish the job before you can become full-time!"

Fu Yin was terrified. Afraid this would delay his promotion, he hurriedly returned to life. When he woke up, he was already in the hospital, with his Soul Reaper colleague floating beside him.

"Your yang energy was weak to begin with, and now you've forced yourself back to life. You'll need to bind yourself to someone and borrow his yang energy to survive. You won't be able to get far away from him from now on."

Just then, the ward door opened, and in walked a man as handsome as jade.

The Soul Reaper colleague tossed out his soul-catching rope. "Him, then! He's got enough yang energy to keep you going for a lifetime!"

Oh no, he's bound himself to Rong Qingyan, the top-tier star!

After that, to get promoted smoothly, Fu Yin jumped ship and became Rong Qingyan's assistant, working hard to stick close and absorb his yang energy. He slacked off at his job in the mortal world and devoted himself to his career in the Underworld, but somehow ended up becoming popular in the mortal world instead.

By day, he's a trending sensation. By night, he's a Soul Reaper who claims lives.

Below the covers, he's Rong Qingyan's serious boyfriend. Above them, he feeds on Rong Qingyan's finest... incense.

Rong Qingyan has been a little troubled lately, though. His pretty, clingy former assistant and current boyfriend seems perfectly fine at bedtime, then suddenly turns cold in the middle of the night.
