The Future With You

The darkest moments in Jiang Tang's life were spent with Lin Xingyang, her senior at school, by her side.

On the eve of her transfer, she gathered the courage to confess to Lin Xingyang.

Standing by the balcony, the boy froze when he heard her words. Then he smiled as he always did.

"Thank you. But I don't like you enough to be with you."

His polite smile held a faint air of distance.

After that, Jiang Tang transferred schools, and the two never crossed paths again.

Only later did Jiang Tang learn that Lin Xingyang had been kind to her because his sickly younger brother had a crush on her.

Her first love ended without ever getting started.

Five years later, she returned to the city where she had first met Lin Xingyang with a boyfriend she'd been dating for two days.

They stood with their bags piled around them, waiting for her boyfriend's older brother to come pick them up.

"Bro, over here!" her boyfriend called out, waving at someone by the roadside.

The young man was dressed in a white shirt as always, standing in the sunlight. The faint light seemed almost to shine right through him.

It was Lin Xingyang.

Jiang Tang recognized him almost at once.

She couldn't tell if he recognized her. His gaze rested on her for a moment, and he smiled gently before asking his younger brother, "Your girlfriend?"

"Yeah."

He froze, lowering his eyes as his smile stiffened on his lips.

Looking at him as though they had never met, Jiang Tang smiled and said, "Hello, big brother. I'm Jiang Tang."

After a brief silence, he smiled again, but no longer looked at her. His voice was so soft it was almost inaudible.

"So you're my sister-in-law."
