Gu Yan is soft, languid, refined, and arrogant.
As the head of the Yan residence, he travels by sedan chair, walks on silk carpets, and has screens stretching for miles set up as barriers. He lives in the utmost luxury.
Xiao Feilue is quiet and taciturn, distant and cold.
Enfeoffed as General of Pinglang, he wields his spear like thunder. It is named Panjiao, and his black-maned steed, which can run a thousand li, is called Wuxue.
Gu Yan has two regrets in this life.
The first is that he should never have taken pity on that drenched little lion and let it go. Years later, at a victory banquet, he accidentally caught sight of the young general returning to the capital. Burned into his collarbone was the mark Gu Yan had left in a moment of youthful mischief.
The second is that, after discovering this secret, he still smiled and raised his cup in greeting. "Long time no see, General Xiao."
Xiao Feilue also has two regrets in this life.
The first is that, many years after finally escaping the imperial capital, he returned as a general and, at a victory banquet, someone happened to see the mark burned into his collarbone. Every character was clear: "Gu Yan."
The second is that when Gu Yan raised his cup, he looked at him coldly and asked, "How can you say it's good to see me?"
And so the ever-indifferent Master Gu doggedly tried to bring the wayward lion back into his fold.
And so the usually solitary General Xiao got into trouble, bound hand and foot by a snake full of poison.
The next day, all the beauties in the city wept, while the people presented a plaque bearing nine characters:
Thank you, General Xiao, for risking your life to save others.
Gu Yan (gong) x Xiao Feilue (shou)
- Master Gu is delicate and lazy, but likes to be in control and refuses to be the shou, so he's the gong.
- Reading order: Sitting on the Moonlit Ground -> The Sword Falls on a Thousand Mountains of Snow -> A Jewel in the Game Deliberately Trips the East Wind.
