Gu Chi transmigrated into a book, becoming a beautiful idiot who shared his name and surname, and served as the contrast to the original story's real young master.
The original character lived only twenty-four years. In the first half of his life, his family treated him like their precious darling, but later he died in an alley, with no one to claim his body.
It all began when the Gu family discovered, when he was twenty-two, that he had been switched at birth.
The Gu family's real young master, Gu Xi, had grown up in a terrible environment, yet was still exceptionally talented and distinguished. In just six months after taking over the company, he tripled its profits.
By comparison, the original character seemed utterly useless. Afraid of being thrown out of the Gu family, he let himself be manipulated and spent the next three years doing everything he could to target the real young master, Gu Xi.
He thought he could drive Gu Xi out of the family, not realizing that Gu Xi was a true-blooded Gu. His actions only broke the family's heart.
His parents were so furious with him they ended up in the hospital. His eldest brother watched him with exasperation, and even his second sister, who used to smile and pat his head, began ignoring him.
The only one who still treated him with care was the real young master, Gu Xi.
But the original character only sneered coldly. What care? He was obviously just showing off how kind and noble he was.
In a fit of anger, the original character stole a pile of money and ran away. His shady friends swindled him out of every penny, and he met a miserable end.
Gu Chi transmigrated into the original character's body when he was twenty-three, by which point his entire family had given up on him.
There was no way he could compete with the real young master. Why not win over this money-making machine and lie flat, enjoying a lifetime of comfort?
For the sake of his lazy-life plan, Gu Chi kept working on winning everyone over.
Some time later:
His parents, whom he'd angered so much they'd been hospitalized, praised him: "Our darling visits Mom and Dad at the hospital every day. He's so thoughtful! Much better than his older siblings!"
His eldest brother, who had once looked at him with exasperation, said, "As long as A Chi is happy every day, that's enough to make Big Brother happy!"
His second sister, who had once ignored him, started smiling and patting his head again. "A Chi, how can there be such a wonderful little brother in the world?"
Everything was going according to plan.
Only the real young master, Gu Xi, was unmoved. No matter how hard Gu Chi tried to please him, he acted as if he didn't exist.
But the original book had clearly said that at the funeral, Gu Xi stared at his gravestone, eyes red, nearly going mad!
Never mind. It didn't matter.
As long as he won over the rest of the Gu family, he could lie flat.
Just as Gu Chi turned to settle into his lazy life, Gu Xi pulled him into his arms. "You've been so good to your big brother lately, A Chi. Weren't you trying to win me over? Why did you stop?"
What do you mean, big brother?
They were born on the same day, in the same month, and in the same year, but Gu Chi was a whole hour older than Gu Xi!
Still, for the sake of his lazy-life plan, the little fool softly called out, "Big Brother!"
