In a world where ghosts suddenly appeared, humans couldn't see them. They could only sense their presence, then die for no apparent reason.
Xu Dingdang was being eroded by ghostly energy. As her body grew weaker by the day, she wanted to fight back but was powerless to resist.
But just as she was about to die, a System suddenly appeared!
[Only by gaining faith can you stay alive.]
Lying in bed, Xu Dingdang could only blink. But that didn't stop her from expressing her shock.
So where's my golden finger?
It was as if the System had heard her question.
[Creating ghost stories is your power. Do your best, little Dingdang (cheeky face, JPG)]
Xu Dingdang's eyes widened. She almost died with regrets... Well, not quite.
But the question was, what were ghost stories? And wasn't it a little weird to gain faith through them?
After ghosts appeared, all kinds of inexplicable ghost stories began appearing in the world too. Numb to it all, humanity thought this was just another round of torment. They never imagined that these stories would eventually come to be seen as blessings from the gods.
Those who successfully passed a ghost story could draw power from it and use that power to defeat the ghosts in the real world.
So later on, whenever a ghost story appeared, their eyes would blaze with fervor.
Only then did Xu Dingdang, wielder of the "Ghost Story System," realize:
Oh no. Did I turn into an evil god?
My take on an unseen mastermind, black (or white?) behind the scenes. The protagonist herself doesn't appear much. Most of the story is told from the perspectives of the secret identities she creates. She controls them completely, and they never develop consciousness of their own.
Theme: Everyone has a salvation of their own.
