Flirtatious seductress x cold-faced, rugged man
Shi Jinye, a wealthy heiress with over a hundred million to her name and still not satisfied, loved nothing more than padding barefoot across thick Persian rugs, dancing around the birdcage custom-built for Huo Tingye,
and watching him, seized by his hunger sickness, try to push open the intricately carved golden door secured by more than ten locks. She would idly toy with the heavy ring of keys.
"Don't waste your effort. Your career or your woman, choose."
"I want both," the man snarled through gritted teeth.
She ran a finger slowly over his thin lips, as if granting him a favor. Her long, alluring eyes held a hint of amusement.
"Since you won't behave, I'll have to choose for you."
She lounged on the dark red velvet chaise longue and beckoned to her people, intending to have them take him away until she'd secured the project and could set him free.
But the one who came was her lovestruck cousin, Wen Nian.
"Shi Jinye, you devil! Tingye and I truly love each other! You can't tear us apart! I'll fight you!"
Before she could figure out how many women Huo Tingye had been with, or how many men Wen Nian had been with, or tell Wen Nian that she was only interested in money, she died.
When she opened her eyes again, she had become the foolish village beauty in the period novel her father had written.
She immediately rummaged through the house for the family passbook and discovered that her fortune of over a hundred million had come with her!
Why wait? In her previous life, she'd focused only on making money. This time, she had to spend it! Spend it until not a bird flew over a thousand mountains and not a soul walked a million paths!
But her father, who had spent his whole life writing novels and being a coward, hadn't given this story any such thing as a wealth gap.
So anything Shi Jinye could afford, anyone else could afford, too. And anything they couldn't afford, Shi Jinye couldn't afford either.
Shi Jinye: ...Whatever. I'll go sunbathe in the courtyard.
But could someone tell her why, now that she'd chosen to lie flat, all those awful relatives still kept showing up one after another to pick a fight?

While chopping wood in the mountains, Qin Jianhua happened upon a book with a cover showing a man and woman kissing. He frowned and kicked it away without expression, but stopped a few steps later. After a moment's silence, he picked it back up.
His face stern, he turned the pages, lips pressed together in silence from dawn until dusk.
That night, the scenes described in the book appeared in his dream, except the protagonists were him and Shi Jinye, the villainess in the story. When he woke, he smoothed the wrinkles from his pillow as if nothing had happened.
The next day, as he worked in the fields, he caught a glimpse of that familiar figure. His grip tightened on the hoe handle. The person from his dream curled a finger at him, and, as if bewitched, he walked over.
His voice was as flat as if he were talking about the weather. "My name is Qin Jianhua. I didn't get much schooling. I'm not the scholar you're looking for... Comrade Fox."
Shi Jinye: ...Does he think I'm a fox spirit who specifically targets scholars?
"Well, sorry about that. You're the one whose vital essence I want to drain."
Note: Mostly domestic, everyday life.
The author's unhinged work, written after working during the day and watching short dramas at night. Don't read it too seriously.
