Word was that two big shots were being parachuted in from above, taking over as captain and deputy captain of the criminal investigation squad.
According to reliable sources, the new captain used to be an Interpol officer and had participated in several international anti-bandit operations. He was experienced, upright, and stern, but usually taciturn. Wherever he went, he brought a chill in the air, like a walking air conditioner, with an overwhelming aura of authority.
The deputy captain, by contrast, was a completely different sort. Young as he was, he had earned countless accolades. More importantly, he radiated positive energy, a little sun who cheered people up and brightened every place he went.
Everyone figured that these two big shots, so different in personality, would be at each other's throats once they took office. They all pulled up little stools, ready to watch the gods clash.
