(A mountain of headcanon, just writing for fun)
Yue Wu is a very strange person.
His mood is unpredictable. One moment he's cheering loudly over the game, and the next he's planning how to let his in-game character die peacefully.
For example, deliberately getting his character into a deadly situation with no one around to save him.
Why does he insist that his character die?
Because he thinks the game is too difficult.
The character starts from scratch. They have to go to school, take exams, and practice martial arts. The player has to experience every step personally. It's practically a second life.
But Yue Wu is lazy.
He doesn't like repeating the same things over and over, so he wants to end the game and start a new one.
Luofu ONLINE is a game that binds you for life. You can't start over unless your character dies.
That's right, this damn game doesn't allow multiple characters. Your account and character are tied to your identity, and there's only one.
Yue Wu can only painstakingly plan a way to die and log his character out for good.
But...
The NPCs won't let him.
That's right, no matter how brilliant a death plan he comes up with, an NPC will appear like a demon and shatter his beautiful fantasies.
He tried poisoning his character.
But less than half a day after he swallowed the pills, his caretaker (crossed out) teacher burst through the door, excitedly carrying a bag of candied fruits.
Teng Xiao let out a piercing scream when he saw his disciple lying unconscious in bed.
Then Yue Wu, who had been waiting for his health bar to hit zero, was rushed to the Alchemy Commission for a stomach pump.
Yue Wu: ...I want to die.
Teng Xiao: Am I really that bad at raising my disciple? He's trying to kill himself.
Attending physician Dan Feng: ...I don't even want to comment.
Yue Wu also tried holding back during battle and letting the enemy capture his character, hoping they would kill him.
But when he saw the other children who had been captured in the research facility, and even saw someone offering them candy to comfort them...
Yue Wu: Fine, I'll put dying on hold. I'll go die to the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus first!
He put all his effort into sabotaging the stronghold. His character was on the verge of death, and Yue Wu was satisfied as he watched the health bar nearly burn away under [Bloodflame]. He closed his eyes.
Then someone pried his mouth open and poured in a huge gulp of medicine. His health bar shot up.
Yue Wu: !!!
Teng Xiao had finally tracked him down, only to see his disciple lying on the ground, half-dead. He let out another piercing scream.
Dan Feng, who had arrived too: ...Maybe you should go pray for this child?
Realizing he couldn't die, Yue Wu resigned himself to lying flat.
Practice? Not doing it.
Going out to play? No.
Chatting? Nope.
Teng Xiao watched as his disciple, who had fought with all his might to hold on to everything, became completely despondent after the battle. He could only close the door in silence and tell everyone not to disturb him.
Jing Yuan came to visit. Seeing his friend fall from a prodigy into a good-for-nothing, he could only silently set down what he had brought and leave.
Everyone else was equally helpless in the face of their junior, who had shut himself away and refused to talk to anyone: It seems like we've almost raised this good kid to death...
In truth, Yue Wu had simply gone from being a hardcore player to a casual one: I'll just play some event minigames.
Before reading:
1. The tags say pure love because I don't want the hassle or people asking why the characters are so physically affectionate. The player has no romantic pairing; everyone is on a family/friendship route. A few parts might read a bit like a doting fan, that's all.
(And if you insist I give him a love interest, the player's love interest is himself. He only loves himself.)
2. The story takes place during the Cloud Quintet era.
3. The player isn't suffering. He's just inhumanly detached and can't empathize with the NPCs.
4. This is written for fun and has lots of headcanon, especially about the Aeons and the characters' personalities. These are mostly my personal interpretations.
5. I don't accept some of the settings revealed in Honkai: Star Rail after version 3.7. The initial setup only references version 2.7. (I quit after 2.7 and only logged in when new versions came out.)
